This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Technical Talent Partner based in India.
Join a mission-driven organization that connects exceptional technical talent with high-impact social sector organizations working to improve lives at scale. As a Technical Talent Partner, you will lead end-to-end recruitment for technical positions, both internally and across a global portfolio of technology-focused nonprofits. You will identify experienced engineers, product managers, and data professionals who can apply their industry expertise to challenges in health, education, livelihoods, and public services. Working closely with hiring managers and technical teams, you will build targeted sourcing strategies, strengthen candidate assessment, and develop referral networks. You will also leverage AI-powered tools to improve recruiting efficiency, uncover promising candidates, and optimize hiring workflows. This is an opportunity to shape a growing talent function while helping high-performing social impact organizations access the technical expertise they need to scale.
Accountabilities
- Technical Talent Sourcing: Map technical talent markets, particularly in India, to identify companies, communities, and professional networks that produce strong engineering, product, and data talent. Develop targeted sourcing strategies and use AI tools to discover qualified candidates, expand talent pools, and personalize outreach at scale.
- Candidate Screening and Assessment: Conduct structured screening conversations to evaluate candidates' actual contributions, technical experience, decision‑making abilities, and problem‑solving approaches. Develop evidence‑based screening questions that distinguish demonstrated expertise from general claims of experience.
- Hiring Manager Partnership: Collaborate with hiring managers to define role requirements, establish clear hiring criteria, and calibrate candidate assessments. Challenge job specifications when they do not reflect business needs and coordinate with technical teams to ensure promising candidates progress to technical interviews.
- Referral Program Development: Build a sustainable referral engine that encourages employees, candidates, and professional networks to recommend qualified talent. Expand the candidate database and establish referral practices that become an integral part of the recruitment process.
- Talent Community and Event Management: Plan and deliver recruitment events in collaboration with venture capital firms, technical communities, and industry networks across India, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, and the United States.
- Candidate Engagement and Compensation: Communicate the value of social impact careers to experienced professionals who may be unfamiliar with the organizations or opportunities available. Manage compensation discussions, address counteroffers, maintain candidate engagement, and support successful transitions from offer acceptance to onboarding.
- Recruitment Operations and Process Improvement: Manage the end‑to‑end hiring process, maintain timely communication, and ensure candidates progress efficiently through each stage. Track sourcing channels, conversion rates, hiring timelines, and candidate drop‑off points to identify opportunities for improvement.
- AI‑Enabled Recruitment: Integrate AI into sourcing, candidate research, outreach, and other recruitment activities. Evaluate the effectiveness of automated workflows, identify limitations, and refine processes to improve productivity without compromising candidate quality.
- Recruitment Playbook Development: Document successful sourcing strategies, screening practices, hiring insights, and process improvements to create repeatable recruitment frameworks that strengthen future searches.
Requirements
- Professional Experience: At least 5 years of experience recruiting for technical roles, including a minimum of 2 years in an in‑house recruiting position at a product‑focused company.
- Technical Recruitment Expertise: Demonstrated ability to recruit engineers, product managers, and other technical professionals, with a solid understanding of software development and product‑building environments.
- Candidate Evaluation Skills: Ability to conduct in‑depth screening conversations, assess individual ownership of projects, probe technical decision‑making, and identify gaps between claimed experience and demonstrated expertise.
- Sourcing Expertise: Strong knowledge of the Indian technical talent market, including relevant companies, professional communities, and sourcing channels. Experience developing targeted sourcing strategies and engaging passive candidates is essential.
- AI and Automation Proficiency: Hands‑on experience using AI to improve recruitment or other professional workflows. You should be able to explain what you automated, the efficiency gains achieved, and the limitations or errors you encountered.
- Hiring Manager Collaboration: Experience partnering with multiple hiring managers simultaneously, balancing differing expectations, role requirements, and compensation budgets while maintaining consistent assessment standards.
- Structured Recruitment Practices: Ability to design screening questions, establish evaluation criteria, monitor recruitment metrics, and use data to improve hiring outcomes.
- Communication and Relationship Building: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong stakeholder management abilities, and the confidence to engage senior technical professionals and explain opportunities that may offer meaningful impact rather than the highest salary.
- Independence and Adaptability: A proactive, organized, and analytical approach to managing multiple searches in a remote, asynchronous environment, with the ability to take ownership of recruitment outcomes.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience sourcing technical talent in African markets, a technical background or hands‑on exposure to technology, and experience recruiting for organizations that are less established or unable to compete with larger employers on compensation.
Benefits
- Fully Remote Work: Work from anywhere in India, with flexibility to structure your schedule around your time zone and responsibilities.
- Flexible Working Environment: An asynchronous‑first culture that prioritizes outcomes, autonomy, and effective collaboration over rigid working hours.
- Meaningful Social Impact: Help experienced technology professionals transition into roles where their expertise can support organizations improving health, education, livelihoods, and public services for millions of people.
- High Ownership: Build and lead the technical talent function, establishing recruitment strategies, processes, and best practices from the ground up.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work closely with an experienced technical team and operational colleagues in a collaborative environment with minimal hierarchy and short feedback loops.
- AI‑Driven Innovation: Experiment with and implement AI‑powered recruitment workflows, with the opportunity to shape how technology improves talent sourcing and assessment.
- International Exposure: Engage with technical talent markets, professional communities, and mission‑driven organizations across India, Africa, and the United States.
- Professional Growth: Develop expertise in strategic talent acquisition, technical assessment, recruitment analytics, and talent market development.
- Compensation: Salary and other employment benefits were not specified in the original job description and can be clarified during the recruitment process.
