Job summary

ABB's Service Division in Bengaluru invites a Power Systems Engineer to join a dynamic team. You will conduct comprehensive power system studies, design protection settings, and support strategic electrical infrastructure projects with a hybrid work model.

You will work on grid connection analysis, harmonic studies, reliability assessments, and software-based analysis tools, while collaborating with wind project teams and staying aligned with safety and industry standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3+ years of professional experience in power systems engineering.
• Experience with power system studies focusing on protection coordination.
• Experience in grid connection projects or electrical infrastructure development.
• Certifications such as CPE or ISO/IEC standards are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform power system studies including protection coordination and short-circuit analysis.
• Design protection schemes and verify electrical infrastructure projects.
• Analyze grid connection, embedded generation, harmonics and power quality.
• Evaluate reliability of electrical systems and investigate failures.

Your role and responsibilities:

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Power Systems Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will conduct comprehensive power system studies, design protection settings, and support strategic electrical infrastructure projects. The work model for the role is: #LI-Hybrid

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Strategic power system analysis: redundancy, short circuit, power flow, protection coordination, arc flash incident energy
• Electrical safety analysis: arc flash and electrical risk assessments
• Grid connection and embedded generation connections analysis: static dynamic transient stability, harmonics, flicker, transformer inrush
• Power quality evaluation: earthing, harmonics, sag ride-through
• Electrical systems reliability assessments
• Software-based analysis solutions
• Supporting wind project and installation teams
• Emerging technology reviews
• Failure investigations and advice

Qualifications for the role:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
• Relevant professional development courses in power systems engineering preferred. Minimum 3+ years of professional experience in power systems engineering or related field, including:
• Power system study experience with focus on protection coordination
• Experience with design and implementation of electrical protection schemes
• Involvement in grid connection projects or electrical infrastructure development
• Certified Protection Engineer (CPE) or similar protection-related certification preferred
• ISO/IEC standards certifications relevant to electrical systems
• Industry-specific training certifications (e.g., SKM, ETAP software certifications) are advantageous
