Technical Sales Executive – India Sub-Continent
Location: Mumbai, India Report to: Key Account Manager – India Sub-Continent Workplace type: Hybrid.
As a Technical Sales Executive, you will manage and grow direct and distributor accounts, develop new business opportunities, provide technical-commercial support, and coordinate with internal teams to support product qualification, regulatory requirements, customer service and market development across Pharma, Nutraceutical, Beauty and Home Care applications.
Responsibilities
- Manage existing direct sales and distributor accounts, including monthly forecasting, order follow‑up, sales target achievement and collection tracking.
- Conduct regular customer visits, including monthly visits to direct global customers and quarterly joint visits with distributors to key customers; prepare and share visit reports.
- Develop new business opportunities with existing and new customers by identifying potential products, applications, market needs and import substitution opportunities.
- Provide ground support for Beauty & Home samples, technical documentation, customer requirements and product qualification, in coordination with Regulatory, Quality, Technical and Production teams.
- Support regulatory activities, including product registrations, dossier preparation, local compliance requirements and regulatory input for pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, beauty and home care applications.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, pricing movements, import data and customer insights to support product positioning, pricing strategy and commercial planning.
- Coordinate with Supply Chain, Customer Service, Finance and distributors to ensure timely dispatches, payment follow‑up, pricing updates and smooth order‑to‑cash execution.
- Resolve customer complaints by coordinating technical support, root cause analysis, corrective actions and preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
Qualifications
- Degree in Pharmacy or a relevant technical/commercial field, with experience in the excipient or pharmaceutical ingredient industry preferred.
- 6‑8 years of sales experience in excipients, API, intermediates or pharmaceutical ingredients, with strong relationships across Indian pharmaceutical companies.
- Sound technical knowledge of pharmaceutical ingredients, especially excipients such as super disintegrants, lubricants and diluents; nutraceutical exposure is an advantage.
- Ability to manage distributors, conduct business reviews, build customer pipelines and use sales tools such as SFDC or equivalent CRM platforms.
- Strong understanding of product positioning, regulatory requirements, customer qualification processes and local market dynamics.
- Customer‑centric and commercially driven, with strong ownership of sales results and collections; persuasive, proactive, self‑driven, entrepreneurial mindset and strong can‑do attitude.
- Strong communicator and negotiator able to work across R&D, Procurement, Regulatory, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance and distributor stakeholders.
- Analytical and market‑aware, with ability to use competitor mapping, import data, and internal market intelligence to identify opportunities.
