Job summary

Calsoft Japan is seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager / Scrum Master to drive software delivery, Agile execution, and technical coordination across distributed engineering teams.

The role requires bridging project management with Scrum/SAFe practices while providing technical guidance to engineers, ensuring delivery predictability, and managing risks and dependencies. Collaboration with Product, QA, DevOps, and architecture is essential.

Qualifications

• 8-10+ years of experience in Technical Project Management / Scrum Master roles.
• Hands-on Agile/Scrum and SAFe proficiency with PI Planning and ART execution.
• Experience guiding architecture, cloud, APIs, CI/CD, and distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end project delivery including planning, estimation, execution, tracking, risks, dependencies, and releases.
• Serve as Scrum Master and facilitate Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Reviews, Retrospectives, and Backlog Refinement.
• Apply SAFe practices across PI Planning, system demos, and Inspect & Adapt; coordinate across Product, Engineering, QA, DevOps, and stakeholders.
• Provide technical guidance to engineering teams during architecture, design, and problem-solving discussions.
• Track delivery metrics, sprint health, milestones, risks, and overall project progress.

Role Overview We are looking for an experienced Technical Project Manager / Scrum Master with a strong technical background to drive software delivery, Agile execution, and technical coordination across distributed engineering teams.

The candidate should be able to effectively bridge project management, Scrum/SAFe practices, and technical guidance to the engineering team.

Key Responsibilities Manage end-to-end project delivery including planning, estimation, execution, tracking, risks, dependencies, and releases.

Serve as Scrum Master and facilitate Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Reviews, Retrospectives, and Backlog Refinement. Drive Agile execution, sprint discipline, delivery predictability, and continuous improvement.

Apply SAFe practices, including PI Planning, PI execution, dependency management, System Demos, and Inspect & Adapt. Coordinate across Product, Engineering, QA, DevOps, Architecture, and customer stakeholders.

Provide technical guidance to engineering teams and participate in architecture, design, integration, and technical problem-solving discussions.

Identify technical risks and dependencies and work with architects/engineers to drive resolution. Track delivery metrics, sprint health, milestones, risks, and overall project progress.

Drive customer communication, status reporting, release planning, and delivery governance. Must-Have Skills & Experience 810+ years of experience in Technical Project Management / Scrum Master roles.

Strong hands-on experience with Agile/Scrum and SAFe methodologies.

Experience with PI Planning, ART execution, cross-team dependencies, and SAFe ceremonies.

Strong technical background in software engineering, architecture, cloud, or application development. Good understanding of AWS, microservices, APIs, CI/CD, databases, and distributed systems. Ability to technically guide engineers, understand architecture and design decisions, and support technical problem-solving.

Strong stakeholder management, communication, risk management, and execution skills.

Experience with Jira, Confluence, SDLC, and Agile delivery practices. Experience managing distributed/offshore-onshore engineering teams.

Good to Have Exposure to AI/ML, data engineering, analytics, or SaaS platforms.

PMP, CSM/PSM, SAFe Scrum Master, SAFe Agilist, or equivalent certification.

Experience with enterprise modernization and cloud-native platforms.

Preferred Candidate Profile A technically strong Scrum Master / Project Manager who can independently manage project execution, provide meaningful technical guidance to engineering teams, facilitate effective Agile/SAFe delivery, and maintain strong customer and stakeholder confidence.
