Job Type: FullTimePermanent
Work Mode: Onsite
Experience: Management
Biotastic is developing new product variants — custom-sized ice baths, new sauna configurations, and new wellness product lines — at a pace that has outgrown founder bandwidth. Every new product requires someone who can take a concept, translate it into fabrication-ready drawings, manage the vendor network through production, run quality control at every stage, and ensure the finished product reaches and is installed at the client site without escalation. This role is the bridge between "we need this product" and "the client has signed off on a perfect installation." In 12 months, the founder and senior leadership should have zero involvement in day‑to‑day manufacturing, vendor coordination, or delivery operations beyond strategic direction. This role owns the entire pipeline end‑to‑end.
Required Experience & Skills
- 3-7 years in manufacturing engineering, production management, DFM, or custom product execution.
- Multi-material manufacturing experience is mandatory. The candidate must have hands‑on production experience with both metal fabrication (stainless steel, sheet metal, mild steel, welding, powder coating) and wood / timber construction (joinery, cabinetry, premium finishing, or sauna / cabin-style builds).
- Demonstrated experience taking custom-sized, non-standard products from concept to finished goods. This is bespoke production, not mass manufacturing.
- Ability to create fabrication-ready drawings: AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent. Well‑executed hand drawings are acceptable if accurate and detailed enough for a vendor to manufacture from.
- Strong DFM thinking — material selection for cost and function, tolerance specification, manufacturing process selection (bending, welding, CNC, laser cut, joinery, lamination, finish processes).
- Hands‑on quality control experience on a shop floor — dimensional inspection, weld inspection, joinery inspection, surface finish.
Responsibilities
- New Product Manufacturing & Design for Manufacturability (40%) — Translate product concepts from the R&D function into manufacturing reality. Create fabrication-ready drawings, build Bills of Materials, select materials, identify and brief the right vendor for each product type (metal fabrication, wood/joinery, electrical, finish), and manage the entire production process through to a finished, quality‑checked product. Drive DFM thinking across all new product development for both our trading and in‑house manufactured product lines.
- Vendor Network Development & Quality Control (30%) — Build, qualify, and manage the vendor network across all fabrication categories — stainless steel, sheet metal, mild steel, welding, powder coating, CNC, laser cutting, and wood / timber joinery, sauna cabin construction, premium finishing, and surface treatments. Run quality control at every production stage: raw material inspection, in‑process checks during fabrication, and final inspection before dispatch. Maintain a qualified vendor list with capability ratings, pricing benchmarks, and lead times.
- Delivery Operations & SOP Building (20%) — Build the standardised installation SOP library for every product in the catalogue. Hire, train, and manage an Installation Supervisor who runs day‑to‑day field execution. Own the full delivery pipeline from order confirmation to client sign‑off, ensuring standard installations run without technical escalation.
- Custom Project Engineering (10%) — For high-value bespoke projects (wellness sanctuaries, hotel spa builds, custom installations requiring integrated structural, plumbing, exhaust, or cooling work), design the engineering solution, coordinate trades, and oversee execution. Infrequent (2-4 projects per year currently) but commercially significant.
