Job summary

Orcapod Consulting Services is seeking an experienced design engineer to lead electrical and passive systems design for metro, telecom, and data center projects in India. You will prepare specs, drawings, and FAT plans, ensuring compliance with IEC, IEEE, IS/BIS and customer requirements.

Job description

Lead design activities of Electrical and Passive systems for Metro, Telecom, and Data Center projects.

Role & responsibilities

• Prepare, review and approve Technical Specifications, Datasheets, Design Documents, Engineering Drawings, Compliance Matrices.
• Perform and validate OEM / vendor technical evaluations, technical offers, product datasheets, GA drawings, and other supporting documents and ensure compliance with project specifications and standards as per customer requirements.
• Maintain engineering quality, technical compliance, and document control throughout the project lifecycle.
• Prepare specification document as per finalized OEM to fulfill project requirement.
• Prepare Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) procedures, test plans, and acceptance criteria.
• Review and approve engineering deliverables related to power, fiber, passive & other system cablings, racks, enclosures, passive telecom equipment, and associated accessories.
• Co-ordinate with customers, OEMs, procurement teams, and project stakeholders for technical approvals.
• Review and respond to customer comments, technical queries, deviations, and document review remarks till receive approval from customer.
• Ensure all engineering deliverables comply with applicable IEC, IEEE, IS/BIS and project-specific standards.
• Verify compliance of cables and passive components with FR, FRLS, FRLSH, LSZH, Fire Survival, and other relevant performance requirements.
• Support preparation and approval of design packages including specifications, datasheets, calculations, and FAT documents.
• Prepare, Manage & support for engineering documentation from design stage to final customer approval.
• Support successful closure of technical design approvals, data sheet approval, specification document approvals and FAT document approvals in line with contractual requirements.
• Support preparation of technical bid documents, compliance documents, pre-bid clarifications, and post-bid submissions.
• Prepare, review and approve detailed engineering drawings including ACDB drawings, rack layouts, enclosure layouts, cable routing drawings, cable schedules, fiber termination drawings, earthing layouts, and installation details.
• Develop and validate General Arrangement (GA) drawings, Single Line Diagrams (SLD), interconnection drawings, termination diagrams, and passive infrastructure layouts in accordance with project requirements.
• Prepare and review power distribution design documents including ACDB, power load calculations, cable sizing calculations, voltage drop calculations, and earthing schemes.
• Prepare and verify fiber optic network design documents, fiber/core allocation plans, splicing diagrams, termination schedules, and fiber routing drawings.
• Review and approve detailed drawings for cable trays, conduits, racks, cabinets, patch panels, ODFs, and passive telecom infrastructure.
• Prepare and maintain As-Built Drawings, design revision records and engineering document control records throughout the project lifecycle.
• Perform design reviews to ensure optimum utilization of space, power, cooling, cable management, maintainability, and future scalability requirements.
• Support preparation and review of Bill of Quantities (BOQ), material take-offs, cable schedules, equipment schedules, and passive infrastructure schedules based on approved designs.
