Embitel Technologies is seeking an experienced Defect Manager to lead end-to-end defect lifecycle for the COSMOS project in Bengaluru. You will drive triage, root cause analysis, and quality governance across software development, coordinating with development, QA, release, architecture, and product teams.
Qualified candidates will have 7+ years in defect management, strong Jira/Confluence proficiency, and deep understanding of Automotive SPICE, SAFe, and Agile practices.

CARIAD COE (Centre of Excellence) is setup in Bangalore, India working exclusively with CARIAD and associated VW groups with the focus on development of ‘VW.OS”. The areas of work involve development of platform components such as firmware, boot loaders, AUTOSAR, Linux/QNX BSP, Service oriented architecture-based middleware components.
Job Title: Error/ Defect Manager Experience: 8 to 12 years Grade: B3 Team: COSMOS No of positions: 1 Job Overview: We are looking for a highly motivated Defect Manager to lead and govern defect management activities for the COSMOS Project. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving defect triage, prioritization, root cause analysis, resolution tracking, and quality governance across the software development lifecycle. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including development, testing, product management, and release management, to ensure timely defect resolution and continuous quality improvement. The role requires strong expertise in software quality assurance, defect lifecycle management, Agile methodologies, and industry standards such as Automotive SPICE. The successful candidate will establish defect management processes, monitor quality metrics, facilitate stakeholder communication, and drive proactive measures to improve product stability and customer satisfaction. Strong analytical, leadership, and coordination skills are essential to effectively manage quality risks and support successful project delivery.
Own and facilitate the end-to-end defect lifecycle (intake, triage, assignment, tracking, closure). Define, follow up and maintain the error management plan for the project to secure an optimal set up of the error handling process. Responsible for connecting to external ticket systems and supporting the synchronization of the external tickets from KPM/IMAN to internal JIRA. Interface between delivery teams, QA/test, release, architecture, and product/PM. Conduct the error triage meetings to discuss the relevance and priority of the issues; and to get the status of "Overdue/Exceeding time" issues. Participate in error handling meeting to report latest status of ticket progress, follow up on open tickets and co-ordinate with stakeholders. At any time be in good command of the ticket status and provide transparency to the stakeholders Generate project specific statistics and reports from the ticket handling process for the project mgmt. team. Systematically track errors to secure an optimal flow of tickets. Analyze and improve issues in the ticket flow. Conduct Root Cause Analysis. Monitor the quality and completeness of bug tickets in the error handling process by performing sanity checks. Create and maintain a criteria list for checking the quality of a ticket (Sanity check). Responsible for transition of the ticket from Triage to Pre-Analysis, Retest to KPM and Closure to Closed. Review and track the status of the tickets from Triage to Closed. Monitor and push for the tickets which are "Overdue/Exceeding time" in all stages.
7+ years of experience in project management Defect Management.Strong communication and facilitation skills, including crisp defect ticketing, effective meeting moderation, stakeholder communication, alignment management, and timely escalation handling.Ability to quickly establish and maintain a strong network within the Error Management ecosystem .High-level technical understanding of Automotive Connectivity products, architecture, and end-to-end software workflows.Proven expertise in defect lifecycle management, including defect triage, duplicate analysis, severity and priority classification, root cause identification, resolution tracking, and closure governance.Advanced knowledge of Automotive SPICE, particularly SUP.9 (Problem Resolution Management) and SUP.1 (Quality Assurance) processes and compliance requirements.Working knowledge of KPM and related tools/processes to effectively manage interfaces with the Jira ecosystem.Advanced proficiency in Jira and Confluence, including JQL queries, dashboards, filters, workflows, reporting, bulk updates, and decision traceability.Strong expertise in Root Cause Analysis (RCA), problem-solving methodologies, quality management practices, and risk assessment techniques.Solid understanding of Agile and SAFe frameworks, including PI Planning, ART Sync, Scrum ceremonies, release management, and defect impact assessment on PI objectives and sprint goals.Experience in defining and monitoring quality metrics, defect trends, aging analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.Strong analytical mindset with the ability to drive cross-functional collaboration and influence stakeholders toward defect resolution and quality improvements.Excellent organizational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced delivery environment.Fluent verbal and written English communication skills.
