Job summary

Simplify Alpha™ is seeking a Tech Lead to design, build, and lead distributed systems on AWS using Go, Python, and Node.js. You will provide hands-on technical leadership, set engineering standards, and drive automation to create scalable, resilient solutions in collaboration with product and client teams.

You will mentor junior engineers, champion AI-assisted coding practices, conduct architecture reviews, oversee incident response, and push for continuous improvement across hybrid or remote

Qualifications

• 8–12 years of software engineering experience with distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Go and Python; Node.js experience in polyglot environments.
• Hands-on with AWS services, EKS, and OpenShift.
• Experience leading small teams or projects.
• Experience with automation tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Role Overview:

We are hiring a Tech Lead to design, develop, and lead the implementation of complex, distributed systems on AWS using Go, Python, and Node.js. The role involves hands-on technical leadership, setting engineering best practices, and driving automation to build scalable, resilient systems. You will work closely with product and client stakeholders and mentor junior engineers while championing AI-assisted development practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design & develop high-availability, distributed systems in Go, Python, and Node.js.
• Set technical direction and engineering best practices for the team.
• Drive strategy on automation: CI/CD, IaC, testing, and operations.
• Conduct technical design reviews and implement coding & architecture standards.
• Mentor engineers and guide their technical growth.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Lead incident response, root-cause analysis, and reliability improvements.
• Evaluate new tools/technologies to enhance engineering workflows.

Required Qualifications:

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 8–12 years of software engineering experience with expertise in distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Go and Python; experience with Node.js in polyglot environments.
• Hands-on expertise with AWS services, container orchestration (EKS), and Red Hat OpenShift.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems (e.g., consistency models, fault tolerance, service mesh, etc.).
• Proven ability to lead small technical teams or projects.
• Experience with automation tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

AI Knowledge (Mandatory):

• Experience leveraging AI tools like Claude Code, Copilot, or Cursor in coding, testing, and documentation.
• Understanding of AI/LLM workflows like API integration, RAG, embeddings, and agentic workflows.
• Ability to implement team-level standards for responsible AI-assisted coding and ensure compliance with data security policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in the US health insurance/payer domain and awareness of standards like HL7, FHIR, X12 EDI.
• Prior experience in a client-facing consulting/customer-oriented environment.
