Job summary

AMETEK Inc. in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, seeks an experienced Hardware Design Engineer to develop digital and analog electronics for new products and sustaining enhancements. You will prototype, evaluate, and refine circuitry for reliable operation in harsh environments.

Lead and collaborate with global teams, support factory floor and customers, and drive product development with Lean/Six Sigma practices. Strong hardware and firmware knowledge required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum seven years hardware design experience.
• Firmware design knowledge required, and three years preferred.
• Experience in electronics manufacturing environment.
• Vibration experience is desirable.
• Demonstated experience leading new product development teams.
• Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, and DFMEA is a plus.

Job Description:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:

• Perform digital and analog electrical hardware design for new products and sustaining enhancements.
• Create prototypes for evaluation and testing.
• Design, modify and evaluate electronic devices, components, assemblies, or circuitry for use in electronic equipment and devices.
• Analyze products to establish worst case design operation and conduct experimental tests for design validation for environmentally extreme conditions.
• Contribute as a strong team player using technical and communication skills in global product development teams consisting of cross‑functional team members.
• Provide engineering support to factory floor, product management and customers to help resolve technical issues.
• Perform maintenance activities which include developing system enhancements and in planning upgrades.
• Provide advice and analysis as a participant in product development teams.
• Communicate with good interpersonal skills, in a professional manner with peers, associates in other departments, suppliers and customers.
• Supervise, develop, implement and assure compliance with engineering policies and methods.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a four‑year college or university.
• Minimum five (7) years relevant hardware design experience.
• Good understanding of Firmware design required, and three experience preferred.
• Experience in an electronics manufacturing environment.
• Vibration experience is highly desirable.
• Demonstrated experience in participating and leading new product development teams.
• Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, and DFMEA is a plus.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS:

• Hardware design: Selection and design with microprocessors, microcontrollers, DSPs and other digital circuit devices. Schematic capture, simulation, and PCB layout, and experience with low/micro power design a plus.
• Analog design: Strong analog hardware knowledge and troubleshooting skills. Experience with the design of analog filters and signal conditioning circuits is a plus.
• Microprocessors: Usage or technical knowledge of ARM, TI, Microchip or Atmel.
• Embedded systems knowledge: Basic HW/SW integration testing, hardware performance tuning, embedded debugger tools. Working knowledge of c/c+ is desirable.
• Tools: experience with the following design tools a plus: Altium, Eagle, ORCAD, LTSPICE, IAR, Kiel, Code composer.
• Technology: Understanding of Piezoelectric sensor technology.
• Programming skills in C or C derivative languages.
• Ability to work with little direct supervision.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to proceed on own initiative for most phases of work and only require general direction for new activities.
