Technical Team Lead – Azure, Messaging, Collaboration & Infrastructure Services

We are seeking a highly experienced and hands-on Technical Team Lead to provide technical leadership across Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365 Messaging & Collaboration, Identity & Access Management, Information Governance, and Core Infrastructure Services.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team of infrastructure and cloud engineers while serving as the primary technical SME across Azure, Entra ID, Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Security & Compliance, Enterprise Vault and Smarsh.

The individual will be expected to drive operational excellence, provide architectural guidance, support transformation initiatives, and act as the lead technical and service-related challenges. This role requires a strong balance of hands-on technical expertise, people leadership, stakeholder management, governance, and service delivery capabilities.

The ideal candidate should possess broad technology experience across cloud, collaboration, identity, messaging, storage, backup, virtualization, networking, and security domains, enabling effective leadership of cross-functional teams and end-to-end technology services within complex enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Service Delivery

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of Platform Engineers (Cloud, and Infrastructure engineers)
• Serve as the senior technical escalation point for critical incidents, complex problems, and major service disruptions.
• Drive operational excellence through standardization, automation, governance, and continual service improvement initiatives.
• Lead Operational and service reviews, technical governance forums, and stakeholder engagement activities.
• Ensure adherence to service levels, operational processes, security requirements, and compliance obligations.
• Collaborate with customer stakeholders, project managers, architects, vendors, and technology partners to deliver business outcomes.
• Lead the administration, support, and optimization of Microsoft Azure services and platforms.
• Provide architectural oversight for Azure infrastructure, networking, governance, security, and automation.
• Support cloud migration, modernization, business continuity, and disaster recovery initiatives.
• Drive Infrastructure-as-Code and automation initiatives utilizing PowerShell, Azure Automation, ARM Templates, or Terraform.

Identity & Access Management

• Lead administration and governance of Microsoft Entra ID environments.
• Manage Conditional Access, Multi-Factor Authentication, Identity Protection, Access Reviews, and Privileged Identity Management.
• Support hybrid identity environments utilizing Entra Connect and Cloud Sync.
• Drive identity governance, lifecycle management, and Zero Trust security initiatives.
• Provide technical ownership of Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive platforms.
• Manage messaging security, mail flow, compliance configurations, and collaboration governance.
• Support enterprise archiving and data retention solutions including Enterprise Vault and Smarsh.
• Drive adoption, optimization, and governance of M365 services.
• Support legal, audit, and compliance teams in matters relating to Legal Hold, Litigation Hold, eDiscovery, Records Management, and regulatory compliance requirements.

Security, Compliance & Governance

• Administer and support Microsoft Purview and Microsoft Defender for Office 365 capabilities.
• Implement and maintain DLP, Retention, Information Protection, and Information Governance controls.
• Lead compliance, audit, and risk management activities relating to M365 and associated platforms.
• Ensure adherence to internal security standards and regulatory requirements.

Infrastructure Oversight

• Provide technical leadership across supporting infrastructure technologies including:
• Active Directory & Windows Server
• Storage (Net App/ EMC)
• Endpoint Management (Intune, SCCM, Autopilot)
• Act as a cross-functional technology lead, ensuring alignment and coordination across multiple infrastructure towers.

Required Experience

• 10+ years of overall IT Infrastructure and Cloud experience.
• 5+ years supporting Microsoft Azure environments.
• 5+ years supporting Microsoft 365 Messaging and Collaboration platforms.
• Proven experience leading technical teams within enterprise or managed services environments.
• Strong stakeholder management and customer-facing experience.
• Demonstrated experience in service transformation, cloud modernization, governance, and operational excellence initiatives.
