Job summary

Updater Services (UDS) is seeking a Technical Assistant (HVAC) to oversee operation, preventive and breakdown maintenance of HVAC systems across campus facilities including academic buildings, hostels, eateries, library, server rooms, data centres and admin buildings.

The role supports maintenance planning, contractor supervision, documentation, procurement, and ensures safe, efficient operation of HVAC installations. Proficiency in MS Office and Excel is required; AutoCAD knowledge is desirable.

Qualifications

• BE/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering/Air Conditioning & Refrigeration with minimum 8 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain HVAC systems including chillers, VRF/VRV, AHUs, FCUs, and ventilation equipment.
• Carry out preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance to ensure uninterrupted operation.
• Diagnose faults, coordinate repairs with OEMs/AMC agencies, and verify maintenance quality.
• Supervise AMC contractors and service providers, certify completed works, and ensure safety compliance.
• Assist in installation, testing, commissioning, renovation, and modification of HVAC systems.
• Maintain maintenance records, equipment history, energy data, spares inventory, and prepare periodic reports.
• Assist in preparation of technical specifications, estimates, tender documents, and inspection of supplied materials.
• Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, safety practices, and proper housekeeping of HVAC plant rooms.
• Coordinate with civil, electrical, plumbing, fire safety, and IT teams for effective maintenance and prompt user issue resolution.
• Proficiency in MS Office, Excel.

Job Summary

The Technical Assistant (HVAC) shall be responsible for the operation, preventive and breakdown maintenance of HVAC systems across the campus, including academic buildings, hostels, eateries, library, server rooms, data centres, and administrative buildings. The incumbent shall assist in maintenance planning, contractor supervision, documentation, procurement support, and ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of HVAC installations.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and maintain HVAC systems including chillers, VRF/VRV systems, AHUs, FCUs, package units, precision ACs, split ACs, ventilation systems, cooling towers, pumps, and associated equipment.
• Carry out preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance to ensure uninterrupted operation.
• Diagnose faults, coordinate repairs with OEMs/AMC agencies, and verify quality of maintenance works.
• Supervise AMC contractors and service providers, certify completed works, and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Assist in installation, testing, commissioning, renovation, and modification of HVAC systems.
• Maintain maintenance records, equipment history, energy consumption data, inventory of spares, and prepare periodic reports.
• Assist in preparation of technical specifications, estimates, tender documents, and inspection of supplied materials.

Desirable Skills

• Sound knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration, ventilation, and Building Management Systems (BMS).
