Job summary

HDFC Bank is seeking a Software Engineer - Frontend to build fast, responsive user interfaces for web and mobile devices. You will integrate the frontend with APIs, follow secure coding practices, and work in an agile DevSecOps environment.

The role requires 2–6 years of frontend experience, strong React and JavaScript skills, and familiarity with UX guidelines and OWASP considerations. Location includes Mumbai/Bengaluru with an on-site setup.

Qualifications

• Bachelors in CS/IT or related field as required.
• 2-6 years of front-end development experience in a fast-paced Agile team.
• Strong knowledge of UI frameworks and browser debugging.

Responsibilities

Job Purpose

Build User Interfaces for web, mobile, and other devices.

Integrate application front end with application business layer / API connectors.

Optimize applications for speed, scalability, reliability, and security.

Job Responsibilities

• Build & deliver new features in complex digital product(s) in an agile development process.
• Install, configure, and maintain libraries required for application development.
• Keep abreast of the latest trends / technologies in UI Development Frameworks.
• Collaborate with Backend Developers to ensure smooth functioning of the software.
• Put debug tools in place to quickly analyze bottlenecks.
• Work with teams on Test Driven Development methods.
• Efficiently implement concepts of asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX.
• Understand available APIs/RESTful microservices/others and integrate them to deliver enriching front-end experiences.
• Implement secure coding practices to pass vulnerability assessments.
• Contribute to Low Level Design Documents for UI Development Section.
• Design Unit Test Cases for standalone UI testing.
• Perform Peer Reviews and identify code vulnerabilities/areas of improvement.
• Understand cross-browser compatibility issues and implement workarounds.
• Work comfortably in an agile development organization with an established DevSecOps process.

Educational Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related area.

Key Skills

• Good understanding of UX guidelines and key design principles.
• Technical expertise in building digital product(s) and browser-based debugging.
• Understanding of HTML5.0, CSS, JavaScript.
• Knowledge & experience in front-end programming languages & frameworks like React, Material UI.
• Knowledge of responsive and adaptive design and integration with APIs.
• Knowledge of OWASP Guidelines and vulnerabilities.
• Bonus: experience/exposure in developing mobile apps (hybrid and/or native).

Experience Required

• 2-6 years of experience as a front-end developer.
