Job summary

Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd. in Visakhapatnam seeks an experienced Electrical Maintenance professional for pharmaceutical manufacturing environments.

The role ensures reliable operation, troubleshooting, and GMP-compliant maintenance across electrical systems supporting production and utilities. The candidate should have 8+ years in electrical maintenance within regulated industries, a 33KV license, and a solid grasp of GMP, EHS, and instrument coordination.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering; B.Tech/B.E. in Electrical Engineering and 33KV license is mandate.
  • 8+ years of experience in electrical maintenance within pharmaceutical, API, OSD, healthcare, FMCG, or regulated manufacturing industries.
  • Knowledge of GMP, EHS, and pharmaceutical compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of electrical equipment.
  • Maintain HT/LT panels, transformers, DG sets, UPS systems, PCC/MCC panels, and distribution boards.
  • Assist in calibration activities related to electrical and instrumentation systems; coordinate with vendors.
  • Maintain maintenance logbooks, checklists, and equipment history records; ensure GMP compliance and data integrity; follow SOPs and PTW/LOTO.
  • Engage in safety, energy conservation, and power quality monitoring; participate in Kaizen and reliability improvements.

Job Description

To ensure reliable operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and compliance of all electrical systems and equipment supporting pharmaceutical manufacturing, utility, and facility operations while adhering to GMP, EHS, and regulatory requirements. This role is responsible for ensuring uninterrupted electrical support for production and utility systems while maintaining GMP compliance, safety, reliability, and operational excellence in the pharmaceutical facility.

1. Electrical Maintenance

  • Carry out preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of electrical equipment.
  • Maintain HT/LT panels, transformers, DG sets, UPS systems, PCC/MCC panels, and distribution boards.
  • Perform routine inspection and troubleshooting of motors, starters, VFDs, soft starters, and electrical control circuits.
  • Ensure timely closure of maintenance work orders and breakdown reports.

2. Utility & Production Equipment Support

  • Provide electrical support for HVAC systems, AHUs, chillers, air compressors, boilers, cooling towers, and water systems.
  • Support electrical maintenance of production equipment such as compression, coating, granulation, capsule filling, packing, and inspection machines.
  • Attend equipment breakdowns and minimize downtime.

3. Calibration & Instrument Coordination

  • Assist in calibration activities related to electrical and instrumentation systems.
  • Coordinate with vendors and service engineers during maintenance and troubleshooting activities.

4. Compliance & Documentation

  • Maintain maintenance logbooks, checklists, and equipment history records.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, Data Integrity, and regulatory requirements.
  • Follow SOPs, Work Instructions, Permit to Work (PTW), and LOTO procedures.
  • Support audit observations, CAPA implementation, and documentation requirements.

5. Safety & EHS

  • Follow electrical isolation and Lockout Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Identify and report unsafe conditions and participate in safety initiatives.
  • Comply with all EHS policies and statutory regulations.
  • Monitor electrical consumption and identify energy-saving opportunities.
  • Support implementation of energy conservation initiatives.
  • Participate in power quality monitoring and demand management activities.

7. Project & Improvement Activities

  • Assist in installation, commissioning, qualification, and modification of electrical systems.
  • Participate in engineering projects, plant expansion, and equipment upgrades.
  • Contribute to Kaizen, reliability improvement, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of electrical maintenance practices.
  • Understanding of motors, VFDs, UPS, DG sets, transformers, and HVAC electrical systems.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings and control schematics.
  • Basic knowledge of GMP, EHS, and pharmaceutical compliance requirements.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications

Educational Qualification

Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
B.Tech / B.E. in Electrical Engineering and 33KV license is mandate.

8+ years of experience in electrical maintenance within pharmaceutical, API, OSD, healthcare, FMCG, or regulated manufacturing industries.
