Job summary

ALSTOM Gruppe in Delhi, India, seeks an Engineering Team Leader to oversee maintenance, servicing, and renovation of rolling stock and related assets. You will lead a cross-functional team, ensure safety standards, and coordinate with Quality and Industrial teams to meet customer expectations.

You’ll drive performance monitoring, skills development, and continuous improvement, while deputising for the Production Manager as required.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience from any Engineering background.
  • Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent technical qualifications.
  • Proven experience in fleet maintenance, servicing, or renovation.
  • In-depth understanding of rail depot and rail industry operations.
  • Knowledge of Network Rail Rules and Regulations, H&S, COSHH, and local safety procedures.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to work under stringent timelines.
  • IT literacy and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in the local language.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the maintenance and servicing team to meet timetable.
  • Deliver Start of Shift and End of Shift Briefings to staff.
  • Ensure safe deployment and a safe work environment.
  • Provide real-time progress updates to Production Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with standard processes, safety, and quality.
  • Drive continuous improvement and smarter working methods.
  • Develop team skills and manage the skills matrix.
  • Deputize for the Production Manager to ensure continuity.

Your future role

Take on a new challenge and apply your leadership and operational expertise in a cutting-edge field. You’ll work alongside proactive, collaborative, and supportive teammates.

You'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the maintenance, servicing, and renovation of rolling stock, infrastructure, and related activities meet the highest standards and customer expectations. Day-to-day, you’ll work closely with teams across the business (e.g., Quality Managers, Industrial Teams, and other Team Leaders), lead your team to deliver on customer requirements, and uphold safety and process standards, among other responsibilities.

You’ll specifically take care of team management, performance monitoring, and fostering continuous improvement, but also contribute to team development and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

We’ll look to you for:

Leading and coordinating the team to meet maintenance and servicing requirements within the working timetable.

Delivering Start of Shift Briefings (SOSB) and End of Shift Briefings (EOSB) to team members.

Ensuring safe deployment of team members and maintaining a safe work environment.

Providing real-time updates to the Production Manager on work progress and addressing deviations.

Ensuring compliance with standard processes, documentation, and safety procedures.

Proactively supporting continuous improvement initiatives and identifying smarter ways of working.

Developing team skills, conducting regular reviews of the skills matrix, and identifying individual training needs.

Deputizing for the Production Manager when required to ensure business continuity.

5+years of experience from any Engineering background.

Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent technical qualifications (e.g., Higher National Certificate, Ordinary National Certificate, City & Guilds).

Proven experience in fleet maintenance, servicing, or renovation within an operations role.

In-depth understanding of rail depot and rail industry operations.

Knowledge of Network Rail Rules and Regulations, H&SAWA, COSHH, and local safety procedures.

Strong leadership and team management abilities.

Problem-solving skills and the ability to work under stringent timelines.

IT literacy and effective written and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency in the local language.
