Job summary

PairSoft is seeking a Team Lead for Delphi Development to own technical direction and hands-on coding across Delphi 12 and XE5. The role entails quality standards, release decisions, and production incident management without people management responsibilities.

The team interacts across several time zones, including the Netherlands and the United States, with India as a key hub. Remote-friendly work from India is supported under this leadership role.

Qualifications

• 6+ years hands-on Delphi development across XE5 and newer versions.
• Strong knowledge of Delphi stack, Oracle DB and SQL dialect.
• Experience leading a small development team while contributing technically.

Position Team Lead, Delphi Development

Summary

APRO develops invoice processing and banking integration software for organisations operating Oracle E-Business Suite. Our on-premise products, APRO Imaging and APRO Banking Gateway, have been in continuous production for more than 25 years at enterprise customers throughout the world. We are seeking a team lead to assume technical ownership of both products.

This is a hands-on technical leadership position. The role combines senior development work with responsibility for the quality standard, release decisions and production incident management. It is not a people management position and does not represent a transition away from development.

The products

• APRO Imaging provides document management and invoice processing for Oracle E-Business Suite. The application captures invoices by scanning, email or import, extracts the invoice data using OCR, matches invoices against purchase orders in Oracle E-Business Suite, routes them through approval workflows and posts them to Oracle Payables.
• APRO Banking Gateway provides banking integration for Oracle E-Business Suite. The application transmits SEPA payments to banks over EBICS, receives and processes bank statements in MT940 and CAMT.053 formats, reconciles transactions against Oracle Receivables and manages SEPA direct debit mandates.

Both applications operate directly against the customer's own Oracle database within their Oracle E-Business Suite environment. Each is maintained across two concurrent code lines: a development line on Delphi 12 and a customer release line on Delphi XE5.

Technology

Delphi 12 and Delphi XE5, VCL, DevExpress, ODAC; Oracle 11g to current; Oracle E-Business Suite.

Areas of responsibility

• Quality standard. Coding standards, review policy and technical direction for both products, with approval authority over what is delivered to customers.
• Release management. Determination of the code line on which each correction is delivered, and whether a backport to a customer release branch is warranted.
• Production incidents. Classification of reported errors as software defects, data issues or configuration problems, and management of these through to resolution with the customer.
• Engineering practice. Definition and implementation of engineering practice for the Delphi codebase, including build automation and test strategy.
• Technical guidance. Support and development of the team, and active distribution of knowledge of the codebases.
• International coordination. Acting as the technical point of reference for departments in the Netherlands, India and the United States.

Requirements

• 6+ years hands-on Delphi development experience, across both a legacy version (XE5 generation) and a current version (10.x, 11 or 12), with the intention of remaining technically active.
• A detailed understanding of the Delphi technology stack, Oracle databases, and SQL in Oracle's dialect. The team lead is the final reviewer of both the application and the database components.
• Working knowledge of Oracle E-Business Suite, in particular the Payables (AP) and Receivables (AR) data models.
• Experience leading a small development team while continuing to contribute technically.
• A demonstrable record of ownership of release decisions, production incidents and the associated customer communication.
• The judgement to establish a shared technical standard rather than to apply personal preference, including the assessment of when established code should be left unchanged.
• Fluent written and spoken English, and the ability to communicate clearly with departments across several time zones.

Preferred qualifications

• Oracle PL/SQL package development. A substantial proportion of the business logic resides in the database.
• Experience of introducing engineering practice into an environment with limited existing process: documented standards, automated builds and a test practice.
• Experience of supporting multiple concurrent customer versions of a single product.
• Domain experience in European payment processing (SEPA, MT940, CAMT.053, EBICS) or in accounts payable invoice processing with OCR and purchase order matching.
