Job summary

Linedata Services in Mumbai is seeking a Team Lead for Accounts Payable to oversee expense accounting processes, ensure accurate vendor payments and timely month-end close.

The role requires strong leadership, process improvement mindset, and collaboration with multiple accounting functions in a hybrid work environment.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prioritize, allocate and monitor the Expense Accounting calendar across recurring and ad hoc deliverables.
• Lead and mentor analysts and senior analysts; manage workload, training and onboarding.
• Perform risk-based reviews of critical activities (vendor payments, reconciliations, accruals).
• Ensure deliverables comply with accounting principles, client policies, approvals and internal controls.
• Serve as primary contact for Expense Accounting, Fund Accounting, Corporate Accounting, Treasury, Tax and Operations.
• Oversee month-end trackers, AP/GL trial balances, bank reconciliations and regulatory schedules.
• Maintain evidence, maker-checker reviews, exception logs and audit-ready documentation; drive remediation.
• Lead SOP updates, dashboards and automation checks for improved handoffs between accounting teams.
• Monitor deliverables and identify delays/risks to ensure timely completion.

Position Responsibilities:

The role will involve the following critical activities:

• Plan, prioritize, allocate, and monitor the Expense Accounting calendar across recurring and ad hoc deliverables, ensuring competing priorities are effectively managed while meeting deadlines, SLAs, quality standards, and maintaining appropriate backup coverage.
• Team leadership: Supervise, mentor, and motivate analysts and senior analysts, including workload allocation, training, onboarding, cross-training, performance feedback, and knowledge management.
• Review and quality control: Perform risk-based review of critical and high-risk activities, including vendor banking changes, SSI callbacks, payrun support, vendor payments, fund reimbursements, cash movements, bank reconciliations, accruals, prepaids, and regulatory schedules.
• Accounting oversight: Ensure deliverables are consistent with accounting principles, client policies, approval requirements, internal controls, and the expected financial statement impact for expenses, AP/AR, cash, accruals, prepaids, and allocations.
• Stakeholder management: Act as a primary LineData contact for Expense Accounting, Fund Accounting, Corporate Accounting, Treasury/Cash Management, Tax/Compliance, Operations, vendors, and internal business requestors.
• Month-end and reporting governance: Oversee month-end trackers, AP/GL trial balance reviews, bank and receivable reconciliations, fund gross-up, expense analysis, AR billing support, CSA/soft-dollar reporting, metrics, research reports, and regulatory/tax schedules.
• Controls and audit readiness: Maintain complete evidence, maker-checker review, exception logs, escalation records, SOPs, and audit-ready documentation; identify control gaps and drive remediation.
• Process improvement and automation: Lead continuous improvement through SOP updates, standard templates, dashboards, Alteryx workflows, automation checks, productivity tracking, and improved handoffs between Expense Accounting, Fund Accounting, and Corporate Accounting.
