About Us

Going to School is a creative not-for-profit trust established in India in 2003. We make design‑driven stories to equip young people with the sustainable entrepreneurial skills they need to stay in school and transition from school to a sustainable enterprise start‑up of their choice. About Fix‑it Café

Fix‑it Café is a 24‑week practical repair and engineering program for young people in Grades 6 to 10 across Raichur schools. The program teaches electrical, plumbing, mechanical and AI‑guided repair skills, delivered in schools by a dedicated field team reporting to the CEO.

About the Role

Language – Fluent spoken Kannada is required for all sessions in Raichur. Excellent written English is non‑negotiable.

Responsibilities

• Repair, Engineering and Technical Skills – Safely strip and rewire a plug, identify a fault in a basic electrical circuit, replace a fuse, fix a leaking tap or pipe joint, repair a broken hinge or latch, identify what is wrong with a non‑functioning household appliance and, where safe and possible, fix it.
• AI and Technology Repair – Understand basic tool safety, teach it, use AI tools to guide a repair process, including using guided AI to understand how something works before disassembly.
• Teaching and Communication – Explain repair processes step by step, clearly and safely, to mixed groups of girls and boys in Grades 6 to 10. Patient, energetic and safety‑conscious in every session. Manage a room where young people are using tools.
• Reporting and Documentation – Write clear, accurate daily field reports in English. Remain disciplined about documentation even after a full day of practical teaching.
• Field Commitment – This role is entirely school and community based in Raichur. There is no remote or work‑from‑home option. The team member must be present in schools and communities 5 days a week, on time, every day, for the full duration of the program.
