Job Title Tea Taster

Desired Candidate Profile:

• The incumbent will be responsible for Products & Additives related to Tea including organoleptic evaluation and blending.
• S/He will build direct/ indirect tea procurement & logistics capability from tea gardens/producers as well as public auctions.
• S/He will also be capable of creating signature and unique blends for the brand as well as match benchmarked tea blends.

. Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Botany, Agriculture, or a related field preferred.
• Specialized training and certifications from a recognized tea academy are highly desirable.

Experience:

• Should be a seasoned tea taster with at least 5-8 years of experience in tea tasting, buying and blending.
• Should have a proven track-record of working with leading tea brands.
• Should have a strong understanding of:

Teas from Assam, Darjeeling, Dooars and Terai regions in North India as well as teas from South India.

Teas from Nepal, China, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Kenya & other regions.

Teas of various manufacture like CTC and Orthodox, different processes like Green, Black, White and Oolong as well as various grades like Whole Leaf, Broken, Fanning and Dust.

Average tea prices of different regions, manufacture and grades, Season-wise variation and character of teas - First, Second, Autumn flushes – including their shelf-life and preserving qualities.

Specialty Teas origin & manufacture specific single estate/artisanal blends.

Value added beverages incorporating Flavors, Herbs & Botanicals.

Regulatory bodies – Tea Board, Auction System, Tea Trade Associations, FSSAI, IMO.

Data Analysis & Reporting – Advanced Excel & ERP functionalities.
