Job summary

Tata Consumer Products is hiring at its Kerala production facility to oversee production lines, manpower and quality standards.

The role focuses on delivering against production plans, optimizing changeovers, and ensuring OTIF readiness, with emphasis on FSMS/GMP compliance.

Candidates should have 3-5 years supervisory experience in food/FMCG, and be proficient in MS Office.

Qualifications

• Experience in managing production floor and shift manpower.
• Computer proficiency MS Office and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Execute daily production against weekly/monthly plan.
• Manage manpower deployment per budgeted manhours per kg.
• Reduce wastage of raw and packing materials.
• Drive process and packaging improvements on the shop floor.
• Ensure readiness of finished goods to meet OTIF shipping plans.
• Maintain production records and compliance with safety standards.

What are the Key Deliverables in this role?

• Execution of daily production against weekly/Monthly production plan
• Managing manpower deployment in line with budgeted manhours per kg
• Optimized raw material and packing material wastage.
• Drive process and packaging improvements in shop floor .

Customer Service

• Ensuring readiness of FG in line with shipping plans to achieve OTIF targets.
• Reduction in customer/consumer complaints.
• Online monitoring and verification of product and packaging specifications

Internal Processes

• Ensure high levels of productivity & engagement within company and contract crew.
• Involving in changeover activities and optimizing changeover time.
• Identify and report near miss, Hazards and potential safety concerns and encourage hazard reporting on the shop floor.
• Promoting safe work culture in shop floor, ensuring adherence to LOTO and Work permit systems for all identified tasks and non-routine activities at shop floor, adherence to ISO-45001 & ISO 14001 standards
• Ensuring 100% adherence to the requirements of Food Safety Management System requirements ( ISO 22000) as applicable in production function
• Ensure shop floor discipline and adherence to shop floor timings by own and contract crew.
• Responsible for maintaining production records and other statutory records related to manpower deployment and attendance.
• To ensure and drive systems such as Root cause analysis, Corrective action, and preventive action system
• Should be able to interact with internal stakeholders like procurement, Safety, quality, HR and resolve the issues in day-to-day activities.
• Active participation to drive / collaborate in Improvement Initiatives .Kaizen, 5S etc. to improve plant efficiency.
• Monitoring actual Vs target shift output and monitor line losses & breakdowns.
• Ensuring machine performance to meet product specifications & quality standards.
• Frequent plant rounds including utility areas to ensure smooth running of machinery and production operations.

Innovation and Learning

• Support LSS and NPD projects.
• Identify and support execution of shop floor kaizens to improve productivity .

What are the Critical success factors for the Role?

• Diploma/Degree with 3-5 years supervisory experience in any Food and FMCG manufacturing industry.
• Exposure to FSMS and GMP Practices , Internal auditor certificate in ISO 22000.
• Experience in managing production floor and shift manpower deployment.
• Computer proficiency MS office and Excel.

What are the Desirable success factors for the Role?

• Knowledge of manufacturing and packaging of tea and tea products preferably in Packaging (Tea Bags, Packets etc.)
• Good communication skills (English /Malayalam)
• Proven experience in design to development of machine components /parts – Hands on experience basic machine tool operations (welding, cutting, drilling, grinding, sheet metal works and machining operations).
• Strong management and leadership skills.
