Job summary

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) invites experienced Snowflake Data Engineers for our Chennai location. The role focuses on designing and delivering end-to-end ETL/ELT pipelines using Snowflake and Azure tech stacks, with a strong emphasis on data quality and governance.

Ideal candidates will have 5–12 years of hands-on Snowflake, Azure Data Factory/ADLS Gen2, SQL, and ETL/ELT development experience, plus familiarity with Snowpipe, Streams/Tasks and CI/CD practices.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Snowflake Data Warehouse required.
• Experience with Azure Data Factory and ADLS Gen2 is essential.
• Strong SQL and data warehousing concepts knowledge.
• ETL/ELT development and cloud data migration experience.

Responsibilities

• Design end-to-end ETL/ELT pipelines using Snowflake and Azure technologies.
• Ingest data from ADLS Gen2 to Snowflake efficiently.
• Implement data loading with Snowpipe, COPY INTO, and stages.
• Develop incremental processing with Streams, Tasks, and MERGE.
• Create scalable data models, views, and SQL scripts.
• Optimize Snowflake warehouse performance and storage usage.
• Collaborate with BI teams and data architects for analytics.
• Apply RBAC, Time Travel, and Zero-Copy Cloning for security.
• Monitor pipelines, troubleshoot issues, and perform root-cause analysis.
• Follow CI/CD, DevOps best practices and data quality norms.

Required Skills

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end ETL/ELT pipelines using Snowflake and Azure technologies.
• Build and optimize data ingestion frameworks from ADLS Gen2 to Snowflake.
• Implement data loading solutions using Snowpipe, COPY INTO, Storage Integrations, and External/Internal Stages.
• Develop incremental data processing solutions using Streams, Tasks, and MERGE operations.
• Create and maintain scalable data models, views, stored procedures, and SQL scripts.
• Optimize Snowflake warehouse performance, query execution, and storage utilization.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, BI teams, and data architects to deliver analytics solutions.
• Implement security and governance practices including RBAC, Time Travel, and Zero-Copy Cloning.
• Monitor data pipelines, troubleshoot production issues, and perform root cause analysis.
• Follow best practices for DevOps, CI/CD, data quality, and documentation.

Technical Requirements

• Strong expertise in Snowflake Data Warehouse.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF) and Azure Data Lake Storage (ADLS Gen2).
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Data Warehousing Concepts.
• Experience in ETL/ELT Development and cloud-based data migration.
• Working knowledge of Snowpipe, Streams & Tasks, MERGE Operations.
• Experience with Azure Cloud Services.
• Strong understanding of Performance Tuning & Optimization.
Familiarity with Git / Azure DevOps and CI/CD practices.
