The Tax Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects oftax compliance, planning, and reporting for SLB's operations in the assignedregion. The role involves managing direct and indirect tax obligations,supporting tax audits, advising on tax risks, and ensuring compliance withlocal and international tax regulations. The Tax Manager will collaborateclosely with finance, legal, and business teams to deliver accurate and timelytax outcomes aligned with SLB's global tax strategy.
KeyResponsibilities
1. TaxCompliance & Reporting
- Manage andoversee timely filing of all direct and indirect tax returns (corporate incometax, GST/VAT, withholding tax, transfer pricing, etc.).
- Ensure accuratepreparation and submission of tax computations in compliance with applicablelocal tax laws.
- Coordinate withexternal tax advisors and tax authorities on compliance-related matters.
- Monitor changesin tax legislation and assess impact on SLB's operations.
- Provide taxadvisory support on business transactions, contracts, and cross-borderactivities.
- Identify taxoptimization opportunities while ensuring compliance with applicableregulations.
- Supportimplementation of global tax strategies including BEPS Pillar Two (GloBE) andtransfer pricing policies.
- Advise internalstakeholders on tax implications of business decisions and operational changes.
- Prepare andmaintain transfer pricing documentation in accordance with OECD guidelines andlocal requirements.
- ManageCountry-by-Country Reporting (CbCR) and related obligations.
- Supportintercompany pricing reviews and benchmarking analyses.
4. Tax Audits& Controversy Management
- Manage taxaudits, assessments, and disputes with tax authorities.
- Coordinate withlegal counsel and external advisors on litigation and dispute resolution.
- Prepare andmaintain audit-ready documentation and responses.
- Track andreport status of open tax assessments and contingent liabilities.
5. FinancialReporting & Tax Provisions
- Prepare currentand deferred tax provisions in accordance with US GAAP / IFRS.
- Supportquarterly and year-end financial close activities related to tax.
- Revieweffective tax rate (ETR) computations and provide variance analysis.
- Ensure accuratetax disclosures in financial statements.
- Maintain stronginternal controls over tax processes in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX)requirements.
- Develop andmaintain tax risk registers and governance documentation.
- Ensurecompliance with SLB's financial policies and global tax governance framework.
7. StakeholderManagement & Team Leadership
- Partner withFinance, Legal, Treasury, and Business Operations teams on tax-related matters.
- Mentor andguide junior tax professionals within the team.
- Liaise withregional controllers and GBS shared service centers on tax data requirements.
- Support Mergers& Acquisitions (M&A) due diligence and integration activities from atax perspective.
Qualifications& Experience
Education
- Bachelor'sdegree in Accounting, Finance, Law, or a related field (required).
- Professionalcertification: Chartered Accountant (CA), CPA, or equivalent (preferred).
- Postgraduatedegree in Taxation or International Tax (advantageous).
Experience
- Minimum 10–12years of progressive tax experience in a multinational corporation or Big 4advisory firm.
- Provenexperience managing direct and indirect tax compliance in India.
- Strongbackground in transfer pricing, international tax, and cross-bordertransactions.
- Experience withtax provisions under US GAAP or IFRS.
- Exposure toBEPS, Pillar Two (GloBE) framework, and evolving international tax standards.
