Job summary

Wissen Technology is seeking an experienced Tableau Server Administrator / Release Management Engineer to manage upgrades, deployments, release activities, and production support across on-premises and cloud environments. The role requires collaborating with OS and middleware teams for upgrades and ensuring stable, secure Tableau platforms.

The candidate will automate operational processes, enhance monitoring, and manage release packages using CI/CD, while supporting testing and validation in QA

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Tableau Server Administration & Upgrades: perform upgrades and testing of latest Tableau Server versions; upgrade, configure, and support Tableau Server across on-premises and cloud environments; coordinate OS/middleware upgrades.
• Automation & Monitoring: automate operational processes, enhance monitoring, and improve reliability and recovery through automation.
• Release & Deployment Management: prepare and manage release packages using CI/CD; support release planning, change preparation, and deployment; deploy changes to QA and production.
• Production & QA Support: independently manage and resolve production and QA issues; support on-premises and cloud Tableau solutions; coordinate with technical teams for timely resolution.
• Stakeholder & Team Collaboration: represent the team in enterprise workstreams; collaborate with application, infrastructure, cloud, middleware teams; participate in release governance.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Tableau Server Administrator / Release Management Engineer to manage Tableau Server upgrades, deployments, release activities, production support, and automation across on-premises and cloud environments. The role will also involve collaborating with infrastructure and application teams for OS and middleware upgrades and ensuring stable, secure, and reliable Tableau platforms.Scope of Work / Key ResponsibilitiesTableau Server Administration & Upgrades

• Perform Tableau Server version upgrades and testing of the latest Tableau Server versions.
• Upgrade, configure, and support Tableau Server across on-premises and cloud environments.
• Work with infrastructure teams to support upgrades of the underlying Operating System (OS) and middleware/application server components.
• Perform pre-upgrade assessments, compatibility checks, testing, validation, and post-upgrade support.

Automation & Monitoring

• Automate operational processes, including exception handling and recovery activities.
• Enhance platform monitoring capabilities and proactively identify potential issues.
• Improve operational efficiency, reliability, and recovery processes through automation.

Release & Deployment Management

• Prepare and manage release packages using CI/CD processes.
• Support release planning, change preparation, and deployment activities.
• Deploy changes to QA and Production environments.
• Support testing and validation of deployed changes.
• Handle extraction requests and execute required activities based on queries/instructions provided by the L3 team.

Production & QA Support

• Independently manage and resolve Production and QA issues, incidents, and queries related to Tableau platforms and deployed changes.
• Provide support for both on-premises and cloud-based Tableau solutions.
• Troubleshoot issues and coordinate with relevant technical teams for timely resolution.
• Ensure smooth implementation and post-release stabilization of changes.

Stakeholder & Team Collaboration

• Represent the team in various enterprise workstreams and technical discussions.
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure, cloud, middleware, and other cross-functional teams.
• Participate in release governance, change management, and operational improvement initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience

• 6+ years of experience in Tableau Server Administration, Tableau platform support, or related infrastructure/application support roles.
• Strong experience in Tableau Server installation, configuration, administration, and upgrades.
• Hands‑on experience with Tableau Server version upgrades and migration activities.
• Experience in Release Management, CI/CD, deployment, and change management.
• Experience supporting Production and QA environments.
• Knowledge of automation for operational processes, exception handling, and recovery.
• Experience with platform monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Exposure to both on‑premises and cloud-based environments.
• Experience working with teams on OS and middleware/application server upgrades.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to independently manage production issues.
• Good communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred / Good to Have

• Experience with Tableau Cloud or cloud-hosted Tableau environments.
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools and DevOps practices.
• Experience with scripting and automation.
• Exposure to enterprise change and release management processes.
