Job summary

Persistent Systems Limited in Hyderabad is seeking a skilled Systems Operations Engineer to provide production support for banking and enterprise applications. You will monitor health, performance, and availability, troubleshoot incidents, and work with cross-functional teams to resolve issues in a 24x7 environment.

The role requires 5–8 years of production support experience, strong knowledge of GCP, Java, OpenShift, and observability tools.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years in Production Support, Systems Operations or Application Support.
• Strong incident and problem management background for enterprise apps.
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Experience supporting Java applications and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of OpenShift Container Platform (OCP).
• Experience with application monitoring and observability practices.
• Strong log analysis using Splunk or similar tools.
• Experience with traffic routing, load balancing, and network troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with PCF and VM environments.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in cloud platforms, application monitoring, incident management, and troubleshooting enterprise applications within a 24x7 production support environment.

What You'll Do:

• Provide L2/L3 production support for business-critical banking and enterprise applications.
• Monitor application health, system performance, availability, and operational metrics.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve production incidents within SLA timelines.
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement preventive and corrective actions.
• Support cloud-hosted applications and platform infrastructure running on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Manage traffic routing, load balancing, DNS configurations, and network troubleshooting activities.
• Collaborate with Development, Infrastructure, Middleware, Database, and Cloud teams to resolve issues efficiently.
• Utilize observability and monitoring platforms to proactively identify and mitigate operational risks.
• Support deployment activities, release validations, and production change implementations.
• Monitor application logs and system alerts using Splunk and other monitoring platforms.
• Ensure platform reliability, stability, and operational excellence through continuous improvement initiatives.
• Participate in on-call support rotations and major incident management processes.
• Maintain operational documentation, troubleshooting guides, and support runbooks.

Expertise You’ll Bring:

• 5 to 8 years of experience in Production Support, Systems Operations, or Application Support roles.
• Strong experience in Incident Management and Problem Management processes.
• Hands-on experience supporting enterprise applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Strong knowledge of Java Application Support and troubleshooting.
• Experience working with OpenShift Container Platform (OCP).
• Expertise in Application Monitoring and observability practices.
• Strong experience analyzing logs and events using Splunk.
• Experience with Traffic Routing, Load Balancing, and Network Troubleshooting.
• Ability to perform root cause analysis and drive permanent issue resolution.
• Strong understanding of production support processes in enterprise environments.
• Knowledge of cloud-native applications and distributed systems.
• Experience supporting high-availability banking or financial applications.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
• Experience with Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF).
• Knowledge of Virtual Machine (VM) environments and infrastructure support.
• Experience with DNS administration and troubleshooting.
• Hands-on experience with AppDynamics, Dynatrace, or similar APM tools.
• Familiarity with Middleware technologies and platform support.
• Understanding of Database fundamentals including SQL queries and troubleshooting.
• Experience with F5, AVI Load Balancers, and related networking technologies.
• Knowledge of modern Observability platforms and monitoring frameworks.
