Job summary

Aptiv PLC in Bengaluru is seeking a senior System Engineer to shape next-generation Advanced Safety and User Experience products. You will translate customer needs into verifiable system requirements and lead cross-functional teams through the product lifecycle, ensuring delivery aligns with Aptiv standards.

Ideal candidates bring 12+ years in consumer electronics or automotive, strong architecture and diagnostics knowledge, and experience with automotive SPICE and safety/cybersecurity concepts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechatronics, electrical, or related field) is required.
• 12+ years of professional experience in Consumer Electronics or Automotive Industry.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Cross-functional collaboration and ability to manage multiple projects.
• Familiarity with Functional Safety or Cybersecurity.
• Experience with Automotive SPICE and system development processes.

Position Summary

This position is part of our Advanced Safety & User Experience segment.

As a System Engineer, you'llbe at the forefront of developing next-generation of Advance Safety and User Experience products.

In this role you will be responsible for ensuring that the products and technology meet customer and regulatory requirements. You will manage customer communication, requirements, and expectations throughout the product development lifecycle.

Your Role

• Design, develop, and validate new products and technology

• Ensure that system features and deliverables are completed on time per Aptiv quality standards

• Follow APTIV design standards, guidelines, best practices, procedures and policies

• Lead feature definition and requirement reviews

• Ensure the logical and systematic transformation of requirements into a total system solution

• Contribute to requirement analysis, system architecture, and feature integration / verification

• Convert customer requirements into product requirements and design specification

• Ensure proper development, execution and verification across all engineering competencies

• Responsible to lead technical discussions, design reviews and customer presentations

• Develop innovative and creative solutions to unique engineering challenges

• Manage and track system features to ensure high quality delivery on-time

• Drive process, procedure, and methodology improvements to optimize and continuously improve work efficiency

Exp: 12-16 yrs

Your Background

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline (mechatronics, electrical, or related field of study)

• 12+ years professional experience in Consumer Electronics or Automotive Industry

• Interpersonal skills, strong analytical skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and a positive approach to challenge

• Cross functional interests, ambitious and self-driven. Adaptive, comfortable with ambiguity

• Ability to effectively manage several projects at once

• Strong soft skills: skilled networking creation, influencing skills, constantly learning, positive and ownership profile

• Familiarity with Functional Safety or Cybersecurity knowledge/background

• Familiarity with system development processes (Automotive SPICE) and tools

• Experience with vehicle protocols and diagnostics

• Experience with embedded hardware and serial communication tools

• System Architecture knowledge.

• Familiarity with ADAS ECU, Body Control Modules or similar.

• Gather, analyze, and document business, customer, and system requirements, translating them into clear, testable specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria.

• Collaborate with Product Management, Architects, Hardware, Software, and Validation teams throughout the product development lifecycle.

• Drive requirements review, change management, traceability, and impact analysis.

• Experience with vehicle communication protocols and diagnostics (CAN, LIN, Ethernet, UDS, etc.).

Nice to Haves (Preferred Qualifications):

• Master’s degree in engineering discipline (computer science, software, electrical, or related field of study)

• Experience with low level drivers - SPI, I2C, and/or Ethernet drivers

• Experience working on global project

• Experience working in an agile development team and with agile tools(e.g. JIRA, Confluence, etc.)
