Job summary

Siemens Mobility in Bangalore seeks a System Engineer for TCMS – Coupling, Lighting & Ancillary Functions. You will develop and integrate coupling, lighting and ancillary functionalities within TCMS, ensuring safe and efficient train operation.

You will interface with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable solutions across rolling stock platforms. The role requires 5–10 years in TCMS or train control, strong knowledge of railway standards, and experience with MVB/EThernet/TRDP interfaces,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, CS or related field.
  • 5–10 years in TCMS, rolling stock or train control system engineering.
  • Experience with RArS, SWrS, interface specs and test specs.

Responsibilities

  • Define and develop coupling, lighting and ancillary TCMS functionalities.
  • Develop operation logic for coupling/decoupling, line activation and lighting.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and prepare interface documents and test specs.
  • Define communication interfaces with onboard subsystems (MVB, Ethernet, TRDP).
  • Develop fault handling, diagnostics, alarm management and monitoring concepts.
  • Review system specifications, functional descriptions and interfaces.
  • Collaborate with RAMS, testing and cybersecurity teams for project success.
  • Ensure compliance with IEC 61131, IEC 61375, IEC 50128, EN 50657.

We are looking for System Engineer TCMS - Coupling, Lighting & Ancillary Functions

Job Summary:

As a System Engineer - TCMS Coupling, Lighting & Ancillary Functions, you will be responsible for development and integration of coupling, lighting, and ancillary functionalities within the Train Control & Management System (TCMS). You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient train operation across rolling stock platforms.

  • Define and develop coupling, lighting, and ancillary functionalities within TCMS architecture.
  • Develop operation logics related to train coupling/decoupling, train line activation, interior/exterior lighting, emergency lighting, and ancillary train functions.
  • Alignment with component suppliers and development of RArS, SWrS, interface documents, and test specifications.
  • Define communication interfaces with onboard subsystems using MVB, Ethernet, WTB, or TRDP protocols.
  • Develop fault handling, diagnostics, alarm management, and operational monitoring concepts for coupling, lighting, and ancillary systems.
  • Define functionalities related to trainline control concepts, operational indications, and system monitoring functions.
  • Prepare and review system specifications, functional descriptions, and interface documents.
  • Coordinate with system, software, RAMS, testing, and cybersecurity teams for successful project execution.
  • Ensure compliance with IEC 61131, IEC 61375, IEC 50128, EN 50657, and project-specific requirements.
  • Support technical discussions, requirement clarifications, and issue resolution activities.
  • Contribute to improving reliability, maintainability, and operational efficiency of train systems.
Desired Skills:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Computer Science, or related engineering field.
  • 5-10 years of experience in TCMS, rolling stock, or train control system engineering.
  • Hands-on experience in development of control documents such as RArS, SWrS, interface specifications, and test specifications.
  • Experience in coupling systems, lighting control functions, ancillary train functions, diagnostics, and operational logic development.
  • Hands-on experience with MVB, WTB, Ethernet, TRDP, and onboard communication protocols.
  • Sound knowledge of train subsystems such as traction, brake, doors, HVAC, ancillary systems, and vehicle control functions.
  • Good understanding of railway standards such as IEC 61131, IEC 61375, IEC 50128, and EN 50657.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional and multicultural engineering teams.
  • Exposure to diagnostics, cybersecurity, condition monitoring, or trainline control concepts will be an added advantage.
