Job summary

Siemens in Chennai, India is seeking a System Engineer for Medium Voltage switchgear (SWGR). The role involves configuring GIS/AIS MV systems (10kV–40kV), aligning interfaces with customers and implementing technical requirements, plus working with factories on design checks and commissioning plans.

The candidate will handle MV distribution protection, transformer specifications, FAT/FWT testing, and project collaboration with lead engineers and managers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or master's degree in Power Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• 5-9 years of experience in projects.
• Experience with electrical medium voltage distribution systems and protection systems.
• Knowledge of IEC 62271 and IEC 60076 standards.
• Willing to work on external location (10% on external location).
• Excellent English communication, written and spoken.
• 40-hour workweek.

• Implementation of technical requirements;
• Check detailed design prepared by factory;
• Write assembly and commissioning plans;
• Specify power distribution transformers
• Perform FAT and FWT test on site and in our factories;
• Main point of contact to our factories;
• Monitor the progress of the work and solve technical issues;
• Place orders and assess commercial impact for additional work that is carried out;
• Close collaboration with lead engineer and project manager.

• Completed Bachelor or master’s degree in Power Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering.
• 5-9 years of experience in projects);
