Job summary

Karnex Software Solution in Chennai seeks an experienced automotive embedded systems engineer for infotainment system engineering. You will own architecture, requirements, interfaces and test strategies to deliver end-to-end features.

Collaborate with OEMs and global teams, ensure ASPICE and ISO 26262/21434 compliance, mentor junior engineers, and work with CAN/CAN FD, Automotive Ethernet and SOME/IP across Android Automotive / Linux platforms.

Responsibilities

• Analyse OEM requirements and derive system requirements.
• Define and maintain system architecture across functional, logical, and interface views.
• Own infotainment features end-to-end (audio, media, connectivity, projection, HMI).
• Define interfaces over CAN/CAN FD, LIN, Automotive Ethernet and SOME/IP; specify signals/messages.
• Maintain bidirectional traceability from requirements to system, software, hardware and test.
• Lead reviews and change impact analysis with OEMs and teams.
• Define integration and qualification test strategies; support validation and defect triage.
• Ensure compliance with SYS.1/SYS.5 ASPICE; support ISO 26262 and ISO/SAE 21434 activities.

Job description

Role & responsibilities :

• Analyse OEM customer requirements and specifications for infotainment products, and derive clear, testable system requirements.

• Define and maintain the system architecture of the infotainment product, covering functional, logical and interface views, hardware/software allocation, and system-level use cases.

• Own system features end to end, such as audio, media, tuner, Bluetooth/Wi-Fi connectivity, smartphone projection (Apple CarPlay / Android Auto), voice assistant, navigation and HMI.

• Define and manage system interfaces and communication over CAN/CAN FD, LIN, Automotive Ethernet and SOME/IP, including signal and message definitions with the vehicle network.

• Maintain bidirectional traceability from customer requirements to system, software, hardware and test, using tools such as DOORS / Polarion.

• Lead requirement reviews, technical clarifications and change-request impact analysis with the OEM and internal teams.

• Define system integration and qualification test strategies, review system test specifications, and support integration, validation and defect triage.

• Ensure compliance with ASPICE system engineering processes (SYS.1SYS.5), and support functional safety (ISO 26262) and cybersecurity (ISO/SAE 21434) activities where applicable.

• Act as the technical point of contact across software, hardware, test and project management teams, and mentor junior engineers

Preferred candidate profile

• 6-9 years of experience in automotive embedded systems, with at least 4 years in infotainment / IVI system engineering.

• Strong experience in requirements engineering and system architecture, including requirement decomposition, use cases and interface definition, with model-based systems engineering (SysML) using Enterprise Architect / Rhapsody / Cameo.

• Good understanding of infotainment domains: audio and media, Bluetooth profiles (HFP, A2DP, AVRCP, PBAP, MAP), Wi-Fi, USB, smartphone projection (CarPlay / Android Auto), tuner, navigation and voice.

• Working knowledge of vehicle networks and protocols: CAN/CAN FD, LIN, Automotive Ethernet, SOME/IP, UDS/DoIP diagnostics, with tools such as CANoe / CANalyzer.

• Familiarity with infotainment platforms (Android Automotive / AOSP, Linux, QNX) and SoCs (e.g. Qualcomm, NXP, Renesas).

• Hands-on experience with ALM / requirements tools (DOORS / Polarion / Codebeamer, JIRA) and ASPICE-compliant development.

• Experience working directly with global or Indian OEMs, with strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills. Good to Have

• Exposure to functional safety (ISO 26262) and cybersecurity (ISO/SAE 21434) work products.

• Experience with cockpit domain controllers or digital cluster integration.

• Experience with OTA software update and connected-car / telematics features.

• Agile (Scrum / SAFe) project experience.
