Job summary

Nidec Conversion in India seeks an experienced Electrical Drives Engineer to specify, design, implement and commission LV/MV drives for metals, test benches and mining projects. The role involves creating design documentation and coordinating with sales, project, commissioning and service teams across the project lifecycle.

You will adapt VFD controls to project needs, perform tests, evaluate components, and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech in Electrical and Electronics is required.
• ME/M.Tech in Power Electronics or Control System preferred.
• 8+ years hands-on experience in DC Drives/LV/MV drive systems for metals/mining.

Job description

To Specify, Control Design, Implement and Commission LV/MV Drives Systems for Industry Projects (Metals/Test Benches/Mining) • Create and maintain Design documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Provide Technical interface to the customer and suppliers. Liaise with Sales, Project, Commissioning and Service teams.

PRINCIPLE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Be part of a multi-disciplined project team, to deliver Metals/Test Bench/Mining Projects meeting customer and project requirements.
• Establish and maintain contract design documentation.
• Improve the efficiency of the engineering process, through development and use of standard engineering solutions for projects.
• Manage change using the engineering change control system.
• Liaise with other company, customers, suppliers, and sub-contractors in order to support the Project execution.
• Provide Technical advice and assistance to sales and tendering teams.
• Adapt Project specific VSD controls for VSD Application.
• Resolve manufacturing related issues and have a thorough understanding of VFD.
• Completing the VFD (finished or final product) functionality and performance tests.
• Creating technical specifications and documentation for VFD finished product.
• Supervising the manufacturing of hardware components as per standards.
• Process to Component Validation and approval certification.
• Proto-type testing and validation at third party lab.
• Comply with all company and customer health and safety regulations.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• BE/B.Tech - Electrical and Electronics Engineering. ME/ M.Tech – Power Electronics (or) Control System engineering preferred.
• 8+ years of hands-on experience in DC Drives / LV AC Drive system /MV VSI or CSI Drive Control preparation for applications in Metal Industry, Test bench, PSPP, GT & Mining.
• Hands-on experience in AC Drives or DC Drives or MV VSI/CSI drive Control engineering- Power electronic sizing, electrical Components sizing & selection and Vendor Specification & coordination.
• Autonomous hands-on experience in DC Drives, LV AC Drives or Medium voltage VSI/CSI drive Control adaptation and Validation of drive controls for application.
• Good knowledge in Induction motor, Synchronous Motor & DC Motors fundamentals, and its speed control methods. Hands on experience in drive controls adaptation for any of the motors speed control for Industry application.
• Good experience in drive system selection & proposal for the applications in Metal Industry, Testbench, PSPP & GT.
• Good Experience on IGBT/ Thyristor based VSD system study by using simulation Tools.
• Good experience in Transformer, Reactor sizing, Testing, specification preparation & validation of vendor documents.
• Good Knowledge on Advanced Drives and control, Industrial Automation and control & Power electronics and Control.
• Good knowledge in cable engineering, electrical components selection, heat loss calculation, & short circuit calculation.
• Capable of working as part of a multi-disciplined international team.
• Ability to multi-task on a variety of projects to strict time scales.
• Excellent communication skills report writing skills.
• Good interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Willing to travel within India and overseas for short term/Long-term working at customer sites/Regional units.
• Work may include extended hours of working during the weekends/holidays during critical times.

• Good knowledge in different sources of harmonics, EMC and different mitigation methods.
• Good Knowledge on Drives application controls developments for metal, Test Bench and Mining application.
• Hands on experience in drive system Controls validation in Real time simulator.
• Good knowledge in different industrial networks and hands on experience in implementing in Projects.
• Good Knowledge on VSD system design, Sizing and Selection of Electrical Components.
• Good Programming knowledge in FBD, Ladder in any industrial PLC, HMI system.
• Hands on experience on drive system issue analysis & resolution.

PREFERENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in the use of ECAD , AutoCAD, E-Plan
• Experience in the use of thermal analysis of Cubicle
• Experience in networking and communication protocols used in industry (ProfiNET, Ethernet /IP, Ether CAT, Profibus).
• Experience in PLC programming ( Added Advantage) .
