Job summary

Freelancer is seeking a senior Financial Services Technology expert to lead complex payment technology initiatives, focusing on SWIFT messaging and ISO 20022 migration.

You will work with cross-functional teams to deliver secure payment solutions, ensure regulatory compliance, and guide junior engineers.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in FS tech and hands-on experience with Java, Spring, and databases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in CS/Engineering/IT or related field.
• 10+ years in Financial Services Technology with 5+ years in SWIFT and financial messaging.
• Strong knowledge of SWIFT standards, formats, and payment protocols.
• Experience leading technical teams delivering payment technology solutions.
• Understanding of end-to-end payment processing and banking operations.
• Hands-on with Java, Spring, and Oracle/SQL databases.
• Knowledge of ISO 20022 migration from SWIFT MT to MX/ISO 20022.
• Familiarity with CSCF and regulatory technology controls.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelors or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of experience in Financial Services Technology, including at least 5 years of hands-on experience with SWIFT payment systems and financial messaging.
• Strong knowledge of SWIFT standards, message formats, payment protocols, and sanctions screening processes.
• Proven experience in leading technical teams and delivering critical payment technology solutions within a global banking or financial services environment.
• Strong understanding of end-to-end payment processing, banking operations, financial messaging, and payment workflows.
• Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Framework, Oracle/SQL databases, and enterprise application development/integration.
• Good understanding of ISO 20022 standards, including migration from legacy SWIFT MT messaging to modern MX/ISO 20022 formats.
• Strong knowledge of banking security controls, SWIFT Customer Security Framework (CSCF), regulatory requirements, and technology compliance standards.
