Job summary

Verifone in Bengaluru (India) is seeking an experienced Android developer to build on-device and off-device Android applications powering Verifone payment solutions. You will design, implement, and optimize complex mobile apps, collaborate with product and engineering teams, and contribute to demos showcasing our fintech offerings.

The role requires 6+ years in Android/mobile software, strong Java/Kotlin skills, and familiarity with RESTful APIs, microservices, databases, and container tech.

Qualifications

What's Exciting About The Role

This role offers the opportunity to build Android applications that power real-world payment solutions, from concept to production. You'll work on innovative payment devices, create demos and integrations, solve complex customer challenges, drive performance improvements, and collaborate across product and engineering teams while gaining valuable fintech and platform expertise.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain on-device and off-device Android applications for Verifone payment
• Develop proof-of-concepts and demos that showcase Verifone product offerings, integrations, and workflows.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, and support teams.
• Contribute to transformation initiatives, including performance optimization, debugging and testing tools, and release readiness.
• Debug, analyze, and resolve customer-reported issues; provide support for production defects.
• Participate in test automation, CI/CD improvements, and technical documentation efforts.

Skills And Experience

• Strong experience developing Android applications
• Proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin.
• Solid understanding of Android application architecture, lifecycle management, and performance optimization.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, backend integration, and asynchronous/event-driven communication.
• Familiarity with software architecture concepts, including microservices and distributed systems.
• Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Exposure to containerized environments (Docker; Kubernetes/EKS is a plus).
• Experience debugging complex systems across device, OS, and network layers.
• Familiarity with or interest in using AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and code quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (preferred).
• 6+ years of experience in Android or embedded/mobile software development.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across teams.
• Proven ability to work independently, take ownership, and deliver in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a willingness to dive deep into unfamiliar systems and “look under the hood.”
