Job summary

Verifone in Bengaluru, India is looking for an experienced Android/mobile software engineer to design, develop, and maintain on-device and off-device Android applications for Verifone’s payment solutions.

You will build demos and integrations, collaborate with product and engineering teams, and drive performance optimizations, debugging, and release readiness across a fintech platform.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of Android or embedded/mobile software development.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
• Strong communication across teams and ability to work independently.
• Analytical, problem-solving mindset with willingness to dive deep.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain on-device and off-device Android applications for Verifone payment
• Develop proof-of-concepts and demos that showcase Verifone product offerings, integrations, and workflows.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, and support teams.
• Contribute to transformation initiatives, including performance optimization, debugging and testing tools, and release readiness.
• Debug, analyze, and resolve customer-reported issues; provide support for production defects.

Skills and Experience

• Strong experience developing Android applications
• Proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin.
• Solid understanding of Android application architecture, lifecycle management, and performance optimization.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, backend integration, and asynchronous/event-driven communication.
• Familiarity with software architecture concepts, including microservices and distributed systems.
• Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Exposure to containerized environments (Docker; Kubernetes/EKS is a plus).
• Experience debugging complex systems across device, OS, and network layers.
• Familiarity with or interest in using AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity and code quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (preferred).
• 6+ years of experience in Android or embedded/mobile software development.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across teams.
• Proven ability to work independently, take ownership, and deliver in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a willingness to dive deep into unfamiliar systems and “look under the hood.”
