Job summary

Marico Limited seeks a technically strong individual to drive the quantitative core of its environmental and ESG function, including GHG inventory modelling, product LCA, data systems, climate risk quantification, and ESG disclosure integrity.

Candidates from manufacturing/FMCG with hands-on exposure will be prioritized over those with only reporting backgrounds; strong command of GHG protocols and ISO standards is essential.

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech./M.Sc. in Environmental Eng/Env Science/Energy or related discipline.
• Certifications in GHG Protocol, LCA, or IEMA are a plus, not a substitute for hands-on experience.
• Hands-on experience building emission inventories or LCAs independently.

Responsibilities

• Run GHG inventory across geographies as per GHG Protocol Corporate/Scope 3 Standards.
• Own site-level data architecture for energy, water, waste, and emission parameters; validate with bills and logs.
• Execute cradle-to-grave LCAs and support product sustainability assessments and disclosures.

Job description

B.E./B.Tech/M.Sc. in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Energy, or related discipline. Additional certification (GHG Protocol, LCA, IEMA) is a plus, not a substitute for hands-on experience.

Role Mandate

We need a technically strong individual contributor to run the quantitative core of our environmental and ESG function — GHG inventory modelling, product LCA, operational environmental data systems, climate risk quantification, and ESG disclosure data integrity. Candidates from manufacturing/FMCG environments with genuine hands-on technical exposure will be prioritized over those with only reporting or coordination backgrounds.

Core Responsibilities

1. GHG Inventory & Carbon Accounting

• Build and maintain Scope 1, 2, and 3 inventories across Marico business geographies, as per GHG Protocol Corporate Standard and Scope 3 Standard.
• Manage activity data mapping to emission factors (DEFRA, IPCC, IEA, EPA, ecoinvent) with defensible boundary-setting and consolidation approach (equity share / operational / financial control).
• Handle Scope 2 dual reporting (location-based vs. market-based) using residual mix / RECs.
• Support SBTi target-setting, trajectory modelling, and abatement cost-curve (MACC) inputs.
• Manage year-on-year base year recalculation triggers (structural changes, methodology shifts, M&A).

2. Operational Environmental Sustainability Accounting

• Own site-level data architecture for energy (fuel-wise, grid-wise), water.
• (withdrawal/consumption/discharge per GRI 303), waste (hazardous/non-hazardous, diversion rate), biodiversity and effluent/air emission parameters.
• Build data validation protocols against utility bills, meter logs, and CEMS/CPCB data to catch input errors before consolidation.
• Track specific energy consumption (SEC) and specific water consumption (SWC) trends by plant.

3. Product Sustainability Assessments / LCA

• Execute cradle-to-gate or cradle-to-grave LCAs using ISO 14040/14044 methodology.
• Support product sustainability assessments across portfolios, using EcoIndex, Marico’s in-house product sustainability assessment framework.
• Support TCFD-aligned physical risk (acute/chronic hazard exposure) and transition risk (carbon pricing, policy, technology) assessment
• Run climate scenario analysis using RCP/SSP pathways and translate into financial/operational risk metrics
• Support internal carbon price (ICP) application in capex/investment decisions.

5. ESG Data Management & Disclosure Integrity

• Own the data backbone for BRSR (Environmental KPIs), CDP (Climate/Water/Forest) submissions.
• Build and maintain data control frameworks — version control, source documentation, audit trail — for third-party assurance (limited/reasonable assurance under ISAE 3410/3000)
• Manage data consolidation across multiple sites/BUs with reconciliation checks.

Must-Have Technical Skills

• Working command of GHG Protocol (Corporate + Scope 3), ISO 14064-1, ISO 14040/44
• Demonstrated experience building an emission inventory or LCA independently, not just maintaining an inherited model.
• Advanced Excel/data modeling skills (can build and audit a multi-tab emission calculation model without breaking it); Power BI/Power Query a strong plus.
• Familiarity with at least one LCA tool (preferably GaBi) or emission factor database navigation.
