A Day in Your Life at MKS:

The Supply Chain Development Manager is responsible for leading supplier and supply chain development activities within the assigned region. This role focuses on identifying, assessing, qualifying, and developing suppliers to support current and future business requirements. The position drives availability and capability of new and existing suppliers across quality, delivery, capacity, technology, operational excellence, and supply continuity to ensure alignment with MKS strategic objectives.

The Supply Chain Development Manager serves as the primary interface between suppliers and MKS cross-functional stakeholders for strategic supply chain programs within the region. The role collaborates closely with Category Management, Business Units stakeholders (Engineering and Management), Procurement, and Supplier Quality teams to ensure supplier readiness, risk mitigation, and successful program execution.

You Will Make an Impact By:

Supplier Capability Development

• Assess supply chain potentials and capability in terms of manufacturing capabilities, capacity, technical competencies, operational maturity, and quality management systems.
• Identify supplier gaps, constraints, and development opportunities related to quality, delivery, cost, technology, and capacity.
• Develop and execute supplier improvement plans to enhance operational performance and supply chain reliability.
• Develop supplier capability roadmaps aligned with future business and technology requirements.
• Facilitate supplier process optimization, automation, and manufacturing technology initiatives.
• Monitor supplier readiness to support production ramp-ups, strategic customer programs, and business growth.

Supplier Assessment & Audits

• Perform supplier capability assessments and operational evaluations.
• Conduct on-site audits focused on manufacturing, quality, capacity, and business processes.
• Evaluate suppliers against company requirements and industry standards.
• Support supplier qualification and approval activities.

Supply Chain Risk Management

• Identify and assess risks associated with supplier capacity, quality performance, delivery performance, financial stability, and business continuity.
• Develop mitigation plans to address supply chain vulnerabilities and potential disruptions.
• Support dual-source strategies, supplier diversification initiatives, and contingency planning activities.
• Lead risk management activities for strategic customer programs and critical product categories.
• Drive supplier recovery plans when performance or supply continuity is at risk..

Required Skills

• A bachelor’s degree in engineering, Supply Chain, or related technical discipline.
• A minimum of 8-10 years of related experience working in a complex supply chain and/or manufacturing environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Previous Supplier Development/Supplier Quality experience
• Practical understanding of mechanical manufacturing processes including machining, fabrication, welding, electro-mechanical assembly.
• Practical experience in evaluating supplier capabilities, operational performance, and manufacturing readiness.
• The ability to travel up to 30% of the time

Preferred Skills:

• Practical Experience and Continuous Improvement methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma a plus
• Previous experience in conducting/assisting sourcing events is a plus
• Previous experience working with PCBA and electromechanical assembly process is a plus
