Role & responsibilities

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities include

• General administrative supervision of design and engineering personnel.
• Coordinating resource allocation requirements with the Engineering Manager.
• Timesheet approval and authorization.
• Provide input to the Engineering Manager for performance reviews.
• Recommend disciplinary and corrective actions as required.
• As directed by the Engineering Manager, support in the mentoring of select personnel to promote growth and development.

• Ensure that each project has an established engineering budget for project cost, revenue, and gross margin.

• Follow established processes and procedures including Thermon Design Guide and Project Execution Guide.
• Work with the Project Leads to ensure that project progress reports are completed on time and that any issues are brought forth to the Engineering Manager.
• Prepare and report forecast through the end of the project for resources required, document issue schedule, material requirements, inspection, delivery, equipment, cost, and revenue.
• In coordination with the Lead Designers, identify risks to the projects in terms of engineering staffing and evaluate mitigation options.
• Project Management knowledge
• Review technical specifications;
• Check and Approve pressure vessel design reports and other required calculations;

• Provide engineering and technical support to various departments within the company in a timely manner;
• Interaction with customer (internal or external) representatives on technical issues
• Review technical specifications; prepare, review, and approve engineering drawings, bills of materials, and other engineering documentation.
• Provide technical support to Sales, Production, Purchasing, and Quality departments.
• Review updated codes and standards and assess the impact on existing product design.

• Key Characteristics, Competencies and Skills include
• Expertise with low and medium voltage system design in North America & Canada, including UL, CSA, NFPA and ANSI schematics
• Good knowledge of control systems, industrial control components, industrial Control Panels, information software, motor control devices, sensing devices, controllers and HMI products
• Knowledge of ERP systems used in manufacturing is preferred
• Working knowledge with PLC programming is preferred
• Familiar with the following codes and standards is preferred:
  • Canadian Electrical Code, CSA 22.1, CSA 22.2 No. 14, 25, 30
  • NFPA 70, 496
  • UL 508, 508A, 698, 698A
• Selection of panel components. Preparation, review and approvals of panel layout drawings
