Job summary

Siemens Energy India Limited seeks a Sub Project Manager for Substation Control Protection and Automation. Based in Pune with additional locations in Chennai and Gurgaon, the role demands 10+ years in Substation/FACTS/HVDC control & protection engineering and strong coordination across multi-disciplinary teams.

The candidate will lead engineering execution, tender preparation, and supplier coordination, ensuring on-time delivery and techno-commercial optimization.

Qualifications

• Educational Requirement: B.E. Electrical or equivalent, Master's degree preferred
• Required Experience: 10+ Yrs
• Good English language skills (orally and verbally)
• Knowledge of Substation systems including technology and interfaces
• Microsoft Office applications proficiency
• Candidate with financial/commercial knowledge is preferable
• High ability to work in a multi-national and multi-cultural team

Responsibilities

• Overall responsibility for the execution of the complete control and protection system engineering, Automation engineering, Relay setting calculation, CT/VT sizing for Substation (AIS/GIS) projects.
• Coordination of Control & Protection, SAS during project execution.
• Define and assign work packages to team members with milestones in coordination with Hub PM.
• Schedule engineering activities for C&P and SAS software and hardware.
• Technical concepts in cooperation with other engineering departments (system design, equipment engineering, etc.).
• Preparation of technical and economic tender documents for Control and Protection and SAS.
• Technical evaluation of offers from subcontractors and support in purchasing.
• Vendor coordination and monitoring to ensure timely delivery.
• Participation in technical decisions with project manager and technical project manager.
• Regular sub project reports and milestones review.
• Identify project risks and opportunities.

• Overall responsibility for the execution of the complete control and protection system engineering, Automation engineering, Relay setting calculation, CT/VT sizing for Substation (AIS/GIS) projects.
• Overall coordination of Control &Protection, SAS during the project execution phase.
• Define and assign work packages to team members (tasks, due dates, costs, resources, responsibilities) in coordination with Hub PM.
• Scheduling for the engineering activities for C&P and SAS- Software and Hardware including milestones in coordination with the project time schedule.
• Technical concepts in cooperation with other engineering departments (system design, equipment engineering, auxiliary systems, cabling, etc.)
• Overall responsibility for preparation of technical and economic tender documents for Control and Protection and SAS.
• Overall responsibility for the technical evaluation of the offers of subcontractors. Support the economic evaluation in the context of purchasing in coordination with C&P, SAS engineering team. Technical support during the search for the most suitable technical solution and qualified subcontractors.
• Close coordination with supply chain management team in finalising the vendors/supplier
• Vendor coordination & support, close monitoring of work progress at vendor place to ensure timely completion of the delivery
• Preparation and active participation of technical decisions in arrangement with the project manager and technical project manager.
• Regular sub project reports, regular meetings with regards to project progress, constant monitoring project milestones Identification and evaluation of project-oriented risks and opportunities.
• 10+ years of experience in Substation/FACTS/HVDC Control & Protection Engineering, Site Commissioning of power transmission and control systems. Preferable: Worked in Control & Protection System.
• Extensive Experience in tendering or execution of large turnkey projects.
• Knowledge of Substation systems including technology and interfaces.
• Good English language skills (orally and verbally).
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Visio, MS Project).
• Candidate with financial / commercial knowledge is preferable
• High ability to work in a multi-national and multi-cultural team.
• Open minded and creative in cooperation with colleagues and customers.
• High commitment and willingness to perform.
• Deep understanding the importance of techno-commercial design optimization and the mutual influence of technical and commercial aspects.
