Sofomation Energy seeks an experienced News Editor to lead editorial workflows in Mumbai, ensuring high-quality content across print and digital platforms. You will edit reports, coordinate with reporters and editors, and uphold strict deadlines and accuracy.

The role requires strong English language mastery, newsroom experience, and a keen eye for detail, with the ability to manage multiple stories and maintain consistent tone and style.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, English, or a related field.
• Proven editing, journalism, or newspaper publishing experience is preferred.
• Excellent command of written and spoken English.
• Strong understanding of news writing, media ethics, and editorial standards.
• Familiarity with newsroom software, CMS, and digital publishing tools.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and fact-checking skills.

Responsibilities

• Write, edit news reports, feature articles, and opinion pieces for grammar, spelling, punctuation, style, and accuracy.
• Rewrite headlines, captions, and summaries to improve clarity and reader engagement.
• Verify facts, names, dates, statistics, and other information before publication.
• Ensure content complies with the FPJ newspaper's editorial policies and style guidelines.
• Coordinate with reporters, correspondents, photographers, social media team and editors to resolve content issues.
• Select and arrange stories for publication according to editorial priorities.
• Write compelling headlines, subheadings, and photo captions.
• Proofread pages before printing or digital publication.
• Monitor breaking news from TV news channels, social media and assist in updating stories as needed.
• Maintain consistency in tone, style, and formatting of FPJ across all content.

• Strong understanding of news writing, media ethics, and editorial standards.
• Familiarity with newsroom software, content management systems (CMS), and digital publishing tools.
