Job summary

Atlantic Publishers & Distributors is seeking a detail-oriented Copy Editor to support the editorial team in preparing manuscripts for publication. You will handle copy editing, proofreading, fact-checking, formatting, and ensure consistency and accuracy across content.

The role requires strong English language skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines in a publishing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in English, Literature, Journalism, Mass Communication, or a related field.
• Excellent command of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and sentence structure.
• Strong attention to detail and proofreading skills.
• Good written communication and comprehension skills.
• Ability to identify inconsistencies and errors in written content.
• Basic knowledge of MS Word, Track Changes, and MS Office.
• Ability to work on multiple assignments and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Copy edit manuscripts, articles, book chapters, and other publishing content.
• Check content for grammar, spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, and readability.
• Identify and correct typographical and factual errors.
• Ensure consistency in spelling, terminology, capitalization, headings, references, and formatting.
• Proofread edited manuscripts and page proofs at different stages of production.
• Verify facts, names, dates, quotations, references, and other relevant information.
• Follow the company's editorial style guide and ensure consistency throughout the manuscript.
• Check tables, figures, captions, footnotes, references, and cross-references for accuracy.
• Coordinate with editors, authors, proofreaders, typesetters, and production teams regarding corrections and queries.
• Review corrections and ensure that all required changes have been incorporated accurately.
• Assist in preparing manuscripts for typesetting and final publication.
• Maintain records of assigned projects and track work according to deadlines.
• Support Senior Editors and Editors in day-to-day editorial activities.
