Job summary

GMR Group in India seeks an experienced ARFF Commander to ensure continuous readiness of satellite fire station resources and to lead emergency responses. You will oversee firefighting teams, coordinate with ATC and CISF, and ensure adherence to DGCA/ICAO standards during all operations.

Ideal candidates have 15 years in aviation firefighting, including 4 years as crew commander, plus strong radio communications, and deep knowledge of ICAO/DGCA guidelines.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Aviation Fire or science degree from a recognized university.
• JFO course or equivalent with HTV license.
• Solid knowledge of ICAO, DGCA CAR & NBC requirements.
• Proficient with computers and basic software.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• In charge of Satellite Fire Station and ARFF watch management.
• Ensure 100% DGCA/ICAO compliance and timely response.
• Lead rescue team during aircraft emergencies; operate under pressure.
• Maintain readiness of resources, equipment, and personnel.

JOB PURPOSE

To ensure the availability of ARFF resources at all times to meet required fire protection level as per the Airport category in compliance with Director General of Civil Aviation/International Civil Aviation Organization Guidelines. To take over the command & control of incident site and direct rescue & firefighting operations at the Airport to save life & property and restore normalcy for business continuity

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• To be the in Charge of Satellite Fire Station and assist ARFF Watch Commander in the overall management and command of the watch.
• 100% compliance with DGCA/ICAO response standards
• To ensure timely response of Fire appliances and crew stationed at Satellite Fire Station in order to achieve the response time and control time during aircraft emergencies at all times.
• Emergency responses, drills, and response tests meeting DGCA/ICAO prescribed response times
• To perform the role of Rescue Commander during the aircraft accidents/incidents i.e.to be the team leader of the rescue team and to work unsupervised and make decisions when under pressure and during emergency situations involving aircraft emergencies.
• 100% readiness during emergencies and drills
• To assume the command and control for effective management of the emergency situation involving airside buildings and other facilities in the airport till the arrival of State Fire Service and to support them in Fire Fighting Operation on their arrival.
• Achieve 100% compliance with Airport Emergency Plan and Fire Emergency SOPs

• Ensure continuous operational readiness of all ARFF resources, including fire appliances, equipment, firefighting agents, and personnel stationed at the Satellite Fire Station.
• Maintain compliance with prescribed ARFF response time standards for all emergency situations.
• Monitor and ensure effective shift deployment and crew preparedness.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

• Grade-I, Diploma in Aviation Fire or Graduate preferably with science from any recognized University.
• JFO Course or equivalent from any Aviation academy. Valid Heavy Transport Vehicle (HTV) Driving License
• Good knowledge in all ICAO Doc, DGCA CAR & NBC
• Good knowledge in Computer.
• Good communication/ presentation skills.

RELEVANT EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 15 years’ experience out of which 4 years as crew commander in aviation firefighting at Airport.
• Should possess good communication skills to carry out Radio Telephony communication.
• Consent to perform the duties as directed by Head ARFF as and when required
