Job summary

JobItUs is seeking a Structural Engineer for a fabrication plant to design, analyze, and detail steel structures used in manufacturing. You will bridge engineering and production by creating fabrication drawings, calculating load tolerances, selecting materials, and overseeing plant operations to ensure structural integrity and compliance with industry regulations.

Essential requirements include a Civil or Structural Eng degree and 5–10+ years in heavy industrial fabrication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Eng.
• 5–10+ years in heavy industrial structural fabrication.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Tekla Structures and STAAD.Pro.
• Knowledge of welding procedures, CNC cutting, and steel grading.
• Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail and PM abilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform design and structural analysis for loads on trusses, platforms and frames.
• Create and review fabrication drawings using AutoCAD and Tekla.
• Estimate materials and oversee material requirement planning for production.
• Ensure designs meet ISO, AWS, EN/IS standards and EHS regulations.
• Coordinate with clients, PMs, procurement and shop-floor teams to resolve conflicts.

A Structural Engineer for a fabrication plant designs, analyzes, and details steel structures for manufacturing. They bridge the gap between engineering and production by creating fabrication drawings, calculating load tolerances, selecting materials, and overseeing plant operations to ensure structural integrity and compliance with industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design & Analysis: Conduct structural analysis to calculate loads, stresses, and pressures on structures like trusses, platforms, and steel frames.
• Drawing & Detailing: Create and review fabrication, shop, and erection drawings using software like AutoCAD and Tekla.
• Material Management: Select appropriate materials, estimate quantities, and oversee material requirement planning (MRP) for production.
• Quality & Compliance: Ensure all designs and fabrication processes meet international standards (e.g., ISO, AWS, EN, or IS) and health and safety (EHS) regulations.
• Cross-Functional Coordination: Liaise with clients, project managers, procurement teams, and shop-floor workers to resolve design conflicts and prevent bottlenecks.

Essential Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Experience: Typically 5 to 10+ years of hands‑on experience in heavy industrial structural fabrication.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in drafting software (AutoCAD, Tekla Structures) and structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD.Pro).
• Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of welding procedures, CNC cutting, and steel grading.
• Soft Skills: Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and project management abilities.
