Job summary

VMS is seeking a detail-oriented Structural Draftsman / CAD Technician with 2-5 years of experience in structural design and drafting for industrial projects. The role involves coordinating with architects and engineers to produce detailed drawings and GFC documents, ensuring discipline coordination, and maintaining accuracy in detailing and specifications.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp is required, with familiarity in town planning regulations.

Qualifications

• ITI or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
• 2-5 years of experience in structural design and drafting.
• Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp.
• Experience with industrial projects (steel/PEB) is an advantage.
• Understanding of building construction elements and detailing.
• Familiarity with town planning regulations and development control guidelines.
• Strong teamwork and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed structural drawings and Good for Construction (GFC) documents in coordination with architects and engineers.
• Translate architectural concepts into technical drawings with the design team.
• Ensure coordination between structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing disciplines at schematic level.
• Utilize AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp proficiently; experience with other graphic software is a plus.
• Ensure compliance with town planning by-laws and development control regulations (DCR).
• Assist in preparing client presentation materials and project documentation.
• Maintain accuracy in detailing, material specifications, and construction processes.
• Collaborate with the team to meet project deliverables within deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare detailed structural drawings and Good for Construction (GFC) documents in coordination with architects and engineers.
• Work closely with architectural teams to understand design concepts and translate them into technical drawings.
• Ensure seamless internal coordination between structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other disciplines at the schematic level.
• Utilize software tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp proficiently. Experience with additional graphic software is a plus.
• Ensure compliance with applicable town planning by-laws and development control regulations (DCR).
• Assist in the preparation of client presentation materials and project documentation.
• Maintain accuracy in detailing, material specifications, and construction processes.
• Collaborate effectively in a team environment to meet project deliverables within deadlines.
