Job summary

Metso in Kolkata is seeking a Steel Plate Work Package Engineer responsible for preparing, managing, and executing platework packages for fabrication and production in sulphuric acid and gas cleaning plant projects. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Chemical engineering.
• Minimum 5 years experience in package management.
• Experience in Gas Cleaning and Sulphuric acid plant equipment engineering.
• Knowledge of EN/ISO/ASTM/ASME/DIN/IS codes and standards.
• Ability to lead a project team and supervise engineering work.

Responsibilities

• Hold end-to-end responsibility for delivering a package from specification to erection and commissioning.
• Coordinate RFIs and equipment sizing with 3rd party manufacturers.
• Define technical requirements for platework packages such as SAP converters, heat exchangers, towers and tanks.
• Prepare technical procurement specifications and finalise RFQ documentation with discipline engineers.
• Participate in supplier selection including technical evaluation and timelines.
• Lead 3rd party suppliers in engineering execution and conduct vendor reviews.
• Manage document flow with suppliers and stakeholders.
• Drive the package delivery schedule in line with project requirements.

Job Objective:

The Steel Plate Work Package Engineer is responsible for preparing, managing, and executing steel plate work packages for fabrication and production activities for sulphuric acid and gas cleaning plant equipments during the project execution phase. The person shall define and manage the technology basis for proposals, subcontracting and project execution in the respective field. The role involves material planning, nesting optimization, manufacturing documentation, coordination with procurement and production teams, progress monitoring, and ensuring compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and delivery schedules. He should have sound knowledge on different codes and standards.

Job Description:

• Holds end-to-end responsibility for the delivery of a particular equipment or package in a project from specification to erection, commissioning and performance test.
• Communicates with 3rd party equipment manufacturers on RFIs and during equipment sizing and selection
• Defines technical requirements for the assigned equipment packages like platework packages for Prop & non-pro equipments like SAP Converter, Heat exchangers, Towers and Tanks, etc.
• Prepares technical procurement specifications, coordinates with discipline engineers and plant engineers to finalize RFQ documentations
• Participates in supplier selection process like technical evaluation of offers, technical clarifications, manufacturing schedule, logistics, commercial discussions.
• Leads 3rd party equipment suppliers in engineering execution, conducts vendor engineering review, manufacturing clearances.
• Manages document flow to/from supplier and internal stakeholders.
• Coordinates with internal and external stakeholders such as supplier, expeditor, TPI agency, logistics, supply, project team etc. during the course of the package delivery
• Troubleshoots problems, clashes, mismatches during execution.
• Drive the package delivery schedule in line with project requirements
• Prove inspection related technical support to QC team, ensure delivered equipment meets the quality requirements.
• Perform sizing calculations for the assigned equipment
• Ensure compliance with customer specifications, classification society rules, and company standards.
• Verify documentation completeness before release to production.
• Supports logistics to get equipment delivered to site
• Be member of safety team, coordinate PCM activities for packages
• Knowledge in Bill of Materials, material requisitions, cutting, nesting, and fabrication plans for steel structures.
• Ensure material traceability throughout fabrication activities.

Requirements and Competencies:

• Knowledge in relevant international codes and standards (EN, ISO, ASTM, ASME, DIN and IS), proven command of machinery directive and/or pressure equipment directive
• The ability to take lead role in a project team
• The ability to supervise engineering work
• Willingness of international travel if necessary
• Effective communication skills both verbal and written
