Job summary

IBS Software in India is seeking a Senior Test Engineer to investigate, diagnose and replicate bugs across a SaaS platform, coordinating with Development, Cloud, Network and Database teams.

You will perform first-line bug analysis, test change requests, create test cases, and help implement monitoring and alerting to prevent defects, with after-hours support as needed.

Qualifications

• 1. Test case creation, testing, reporting, regression testing; exposure to test automation.
• 2. SaaS web app testing with complex API calls.
• 3. Understanding of cloud environments (Azure, AWS, Google) and monitoring.
• 4. Experience with service management practices (bug/change management).
• 5. Knowledge of SDLC from inception to deployment.

Responsibilities

• 1. Investigate, diagnose and replicate bugs to restore services quickly.
• 2. Resolve bugs within SLAs in collaboration with dev and product owners.
• 3. Troubleshoot across modules using logs and test case analysis; coding not required.
• 4. First-line bug analysis and reporting for customers and stakeholders.
• 5. Identify recurring bugs and pursue permanent resolutions.
• 6. Escalate major bugs to service account manager and plan in sprints.
• 7. Escalate bugs at risk of breaching SLAs.
• 8. Escalate unresolved bugs to Level 3 and track to closure.
• 9. Interact with developers to resolve customer-reported bugs.

Role

Senior Test Engineer

About the Role

1. 1. Investigate, diagnose and replicate bugs and faults reported to restore a failed / degraded feature or service as quickly as possible by working with various teams but not limited to Development, Cloud, Network and Database teams
2. 2. Assist in resolve bugs within the specified Service Level Agreements/Operational Level Agreements in collaboration with the development team and product owners as applicable
3. 3. Troubleshoot bugs across a wide range of application modules using monitoring solutions and/or with logs and test case analysis. Troubleshooting code is not expected, but is nice to know.
4. 4. Provide first-line investigation of bugs which may include business, system and technical analysis, diagnosis and reporting of all bugs reported by customers and internal stakeholders
5. 5. Identify potential and recurring bugs within the application in the production environment and its impact the business of the customer. Takes steps on permanent resolution of bugs and defect prevention.
6. 6. Escalate major bugs to the Service Account Manager and highlight these in sprint planning and standup calls
7. 7. Escalate bugs at risk of breaching Service Level Agreement/Operational Level agreements and internal benchmarks
8. 8. Escalate unresolved Bugs to Level 3 and work with stakeholders to track to closure
9. 9. Handling developer interaction, following up on customer reported bugs, issues and clarifications, to get customer reported bugs resolved
10. 10. Test change requests, report and track bugs and create test cases pertaining to the application change requests
11. 11. Assist in monitoring and troubleshooting issues with application hosting infrastructure. Do preliminary log analysis etc.
12. 12. Aid in the implementation of application monitoring and alerting capabilities with the intention of defect prevention / detection
13. 13. Work closely with the development team, have a thorough understanding of the application and functionality when new solutions are introduced into the production environment
14. 14. Assist with the info sec team in the roll out and operation of appropriate security controls, security testing, application penetration testing and certifications such as PCI and SoC2
15. 15. Owns all bugs and test cases throughout the lifecycle
16. 16. Document troubleshooting steps and bug fix details including root cause analysis for P1 and P2 bugs.
17. 17. Create and submit knowledge articles for the benefit of the team
18. 18. Adopt AI tools in the course of day to day work for better productivity and effectiveness
19. 19. After hours / On-call support and occasional after-hours access is required to manage support bug fix releases and change releases / sanity testing of the application.

Required Skills

1. 1. Test case creation, testing, reporting, regression testing. Exposure to test automation
2. 2. Experience in SaaS based web application testing involving complex API calls
3. 3. Reasonable understanding of cloud environments (Azure, AWS, Google) including monitoring tools and services in the context of quality assurance
4. 4. Experience with service management practices (request fulfilment, Bug management, problem management and change management)
5. 5. Experience with all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) from inception to deployment
6. 6. Excellent knowledge of SQL to extract, update and delete data from PostgreSQL databases in the course of testing. Ability to run database procedures for application testing and troubleshooting
7. 7. Ability to wrangle and parse data and analyze log files with complex XML and JSON messages with backend systems in the couse of testing
8. 8. Shell scripting and essential network commands in Linux is nice to know
9. 9. Exposure to Java, Web applications, Application servers and Web servers etc. Hands on work on these tiers is not required
10. 10. Knowledge of basic network operations as they relate to the exchange of data between applications using APIs
11. 11. The ability to analyse and resolve complex problems
12. 12. Extensive testing experience for SaaS based applications
13. 13. Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate with people with a wide range of technical understanding
14. 14. Must be a quick-learner and be able work well in fast paced, dynamic environment often under stressful situations
15. Ability to learn and adopt AI tools to enhance productivity.
