Job summary

Paylocity is seeking a QA Engineer with 3+ years of manual testing experience to join our team in Ahmedabad. The role focuses on designing test cases, executing tests, and validating API endpoints using Postman, Jira, and TestRail.

The candidate will collaborate with developers to reproduce issues, verify fixes, and contribute to automation using Selenium or Playwright with Java, TestNG, and Cucumber (BDD) in an agile environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in Manual Testing of Web Applications.
• Strong understanding of SDLC, STLC, and testing methodologies.
• Hands-on experience with defect tracking tools (Jira, TestRail).
• Exposure to API testing with Postman and test automation tools.

Responsibilities

Job description

• Understand and apply Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) concepts.
• Design, write, and execute test cases, test scenarios, and test plans.
• Identify, log, track, and verify defects using Jira or similar defect tracking tools.
• Perform API testing using Postman, including request validation and response verification.
• Collaborate with developers to reproduce issues and validate fixes.
• Contribute to test automation scripts using Selenium with Java, TestNG, and Cucumber (BDD).
• Maintain and enhance existing automation suites.
• Leverage AI-assisted coding tools such as Cursor or Claude to continuously build and improve automation scripts, generate test plans and test data.
• Participate in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives from a QA perspective.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in Manual Testing of Web Applications.
• Strong understanding of SDLC, STLC, and testing methodologies.
• Strong understanding of Agentic Development and Testing using Claude/Cursor.
• Hands-on experience with test management and defect tracking tools (Jira, TestRail).
• Basic hands-on experience with API testing using Postman.
• Exposure to automation testing using: Selenium and/or Playwright , Java , TestNG , Cucumber (BDD)
• Ability to analyze requirements and identify edge cases.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
• Understanding of RDMS like PostgreSQL and NoSQL like MongoDB and Datalake like Snowflake
• Good communication and documentation skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience in maintaining automation frameworks.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodology.
• Basic SQL or database validation knowledge.
• Experience using AI tools like Cursor/CoPilot to accelerate test automation.
