Job summary

NetApp’s Azure NetApp Files (ANF) team seeks a highly motivated senior engineer to develop and operate cloud-scale distributed systems spanning storage, networking, cloud infrastructure, and user experience. The role includes design, production support, automated testing, and mentorship in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate brings 12+ years in software/systems engineering, 5+ years in data management systems and leadership positions, and a passion for AI-native engineering practices.

Qualifications

• Experience with data management systems and storage platforms.
• Proven ability to design, implement and operate cloud-native services.
• Strong background in distributed systems and CI/CD practices.

Responsibilities

• Own the functional, performance and scalability of data plane.
• Own features through the entire software lifecycle including design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and production support.
• Design, develop, and operate cloud-native services leveraging containers, microservices, distributed systems principles, and modern CI/CD practices.
• Drive engineering excellence through automated testing, code reviews, operational readiness, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate across engineering teams to deliver end-to-end solutions spanning storage, networking, cloud infrastructure, security, observability, and customer-facing experiences.
• Participate in architecture discussions, design reviews, and code reviews to help drive technical excellence and engineering best practices.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term reliability, scalability, and operational improvements.
• Work closely with product management, architects, and partner teams to translate customer and business requirements into high-quality technical solutions.
• Effectively communicate technical concepts, design tradeoffs, and project status to stakeholders across the organization.
• Contribute to the technical growth of the team through knowledge sharing, code reviews, design discussions, and mentorship opportunities.

Education

12+ years of experience in software/systems engineering.

• 5+ years of experience in data management systems & storage platforms for managing and storing data across various workloads and environments. (Ex: NetApp 's ONTAP or similar systems)
• 5+ years in technical leadership positions
