As a Visa Software Engineer, you will be an integral part of a multi‑functional development team inventing, designing, building, and testing software products that reach a truly global customer base. You will see your efforts shaping the digital future of monetary transactions.
Regularly recognized for delivering high‑quality, impactful technical solutions within their team and across collectives. Coding standards and best practices are actively enabled for other engineers. Technical leadership leads squads to successful outcomes, balancing technical debt, design, reliability, observability, and business needs. Product awareness and planning involve strong understanding of quarterly planning and collaboration with PMs. Mentorship and feedback support growth of other engineers. Cross‑team collaboration is frequently consulted, tackling complex problems under pressure. Technology strategy contributions keep up with emerging trends.
This is a remote position. Remote roles do not require duties to be performed near a Visa office location, though presence at a Visa office may be required with scheduled notice.
Basic Qualifications
• 5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree, or
• at least 2 years of relevant work experience with an advanced degree (e.g., Masters, MBA, JD, MD), or
• 0 years of work experience with a PhD, or
• 8+ years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
• 3+ years of proficiency in Go
• Adaptable to other languages such as Java, Groovy, or other JVM‑related languages
• Solid knowledge of AWS services or other cloud providers
• Knowledge of distributed transactions and race conditions
• Experience with CI/CD and automation tools (Jenkins, CodeFresh, ArgoCD, Artifactory, Git, etc.)
• Solid knowledge of Agile and Test‑Driven Development
• Deep product knowledge and active participation in feature planning and impact analysis
• Strong relational database design and non‑relational strategy, effective data modelling
• Experience with financial industry or payments/authorization systems
• Understanding of observability practices (monitoring, tracing, alerting)
