Job summary

DAZN in Hyderabad is seeking a Staff Engineer to shape HTML5-based video playback across web platforms, delivering browser-native solutions with MSE/EME. You will lead key playback initiatives, mentor engineers, and collaborate with Streaming & Broadcasting teams to address cross-device challenges.

You will tackle performance, compatibility, and delivery challenges, ensuring robust playback experiences for millions of fans worldwide while advancing internal standards and tools.

Qualifications

• Professional software engineering experience with a strong delivery track record.
• Deep expertise in HTML5 video playback, including MSE, EME, and browser media pipelines.
• Experience in designing and evolving SDK, API or platform components used across multiple teams.
• Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern web technologies, with strong knowledge of performance optimisation and cross-browser compatibility.

Responsibilities

• Create and implement web-based solutions to improve network handling, ABR algorithms, and playback resiliency using HTML5 video and MSE.
• Collaborate on experimental improvements to the video player experience across browsers and devices.
• Lead engineering delivery as the primary technical point of contact for new web playback initiatives.
• Improve and steer DAZN’s internal engineering standards and integrations.
• Motivate and sponsor junior engineers to improve processes and software excellence.
• Work horizontally with other Streaming & Broadcasting teams to collaborate on cross-domain projects.
• Triage and debug production issues across browsers, devices, and complex web architectures.

Role Summary An engineering expert in the Player Engineering team specialising in HTML5-based video playback prototyping across web platforms. You will work with subject matter experts and video specialists to design and evaluate browser-native playback solutions, leveraging modern web APIs and standards to address complex streaming challenges.

Required Qualifications:
