Job summary

DAZN in Hyderabad is seeking a Staff Engineer (HTML5 Devices) to lead Android TV playback within hybrid app environments. You will design, build, and optimise playback using native Android capabilities integrated with HTML5 interfaces.

You will mentor engineers, drive delivery as the primary technical contact for new Android TV initiatives, and establish standards for performance, observability, and cross‑device playback across a range of devices.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong delivery track record.
• Deep expertise in Android video playback, including ExoPlayer, MediaCodec, and Widevine DRM.
• Strong understanding of streaming protocols such as HLS and DASH, particularly in TV and embedded environments.
• Experience building and maintaining Android SDKs or shared platform components across multiple apps or teams.
• Proven ability to manage multiple initiatives independently.
• Proficiency in Kotlin and/or Java, with focus on performance optimization, device fragmentation, and mobile system constraints.

• Optimise interaction between native video pipelines and web layers.

The Role & Key Responsibilities

Role Summary

An engineering expert in the Player Engineering team specialising in Android TV playback within hybrid application environments.
