Job summary

Arctic Wolf seeks a Staff Software Engineer to lead the technical vision of its Aurora Cloud Engineering platform. You will architect scalable backend services powering endpoint security, drive cloud-native patterns, and mentor multiple engineering teams across the organization.

The role combines deep hands-on backend expertise with strategic leadership to shape architecture, advocate best practices, and deliver secure, high-performance systems at scale.

Qualifications

• 9+ years in backend engineering with 3+ years in technical leadership
• Expert programming in Go, Python, or Java; C#/.NET a plus

Position Overview And Objective

Aurora Cloud Engineering

Lead the technical vision for Arctic Wolf's cloud security platform while architecting scalable backend systems that protect thousands of organizations from cyber threats.

As a Staff Software Engineer, you’ll drive technical excellence across our cloud engineering teams, leading the design and implementation of mission-critical backend services that power Arctic Wolf's endpoint security solutions. This role combines deep technical expertise with strategic leadership to shape our cloud architecture and mentor engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead design of scalable, resilient backend services supporting endpoint security
• Drive architectural decisions for distributed systems, microservices, and cloud infrastructure
• Design and implement complex backend systems for cybersecurity data processing
• Build high-performance APIs and services handling millions of security events
• Lead implementation of cloud-native architectures using AWS, microservices, and containers
• Mentor Senior and Mid-level engineers on technical design and best practices
• Lead technical discussions across multiple engineering teams
• Drive engineering standards, practices, and tooling adoption
• Lead proof-of-concepts for new architectural approaches and technologies
• Drive adoption of AI-powered development tools and AI-assisted engineering practices to enhance developer productivity, code quality, and system design

Experience & Requirements

• 9+ years in backend engineering with 3+ years in technical leadership roles
• Expert Programming: Advanced proficiency in Go, Python, or Java for backend development; C#/.NET experience is a nice-to-have
• Cloud Architecture: Deep expertise in AWS including Lambda, ECS/EKS, RDS, DynamoDB, SQS/SNS, distributed systems, and cloud-native design patterns
• Security Domain: Understanding of security architecture, cybersecurity principles, threat detection, and security data processing
• Observability: Monitoring, logging, distributed tracing, and system reliability practices.
• Performance: Experience with high-throughput systems, caching strategies, and optimization
• DevOps: CI/CD, automation, and production system management
• Infrastructure: Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Infrastructure as Code practices
• Data Systems: Experience with databases, data streaming, and large-scale data processing
