Job summary

JioStar seeks a Staff Data Scientist to lead GenAI initiatives for audio and video generation, shaping scalable ML platforms and delivering business impact.

You will design and productionize end-to-end data science pipelines, mentor teams, and collaborate with product and engineering leaders to align AI capabilities with strategic goals. 7+ years of hands-on GenAI experience required.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related quantitative field with 7+ years hands-on experience in data science, with last few years working with GenAI stack, especially audio & video modalities.
• Hands-on experience with deep learning architectures for generative tasks (diffusion models, transformers, GANs).
• Strong understanding of LLMs, fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and evaluating foundation models for multimodal generation.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and refine deep learning models for text-to-video and image-to-video generation using diffusion models, transformers, temporal GANs.
• Develop robust pipelines for dataset curation, preprocessing, training, and model evaluation with automated quality metrics.
• Lead data science features from concept to production, aligning with strategic goals and business outcomes.
• Invest in model development, testing, and release pipelines for reliable deployment.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and senior leadership to define use cases and production-grade AI systems.
• Run A/B tests, iterate based on performance, align with product experience and creative quality standards.
• Stay ahead in GenAI space; communicate insights and represent the team in technical forums.

Key responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and refine deep learning models for text-to-video and image-to-video generation using cutting-edge techniques in generative AI (e.g., diffusion models, transformers, temporal GANs)
• Develop robust pipelines for dataset curation, preprocessing, training, and model evaluation, including automated visual, temporal, and semantic quality metrics
• Lead data science features from concept to production, ensuring they meet strategic goals and deliver tangible business outcomes.
• Invest in and enhance model development, testing, and release pipelines for efficient and reliable deployment
• Work closely with product managers, engineering teams, and senior leadership to define use cases, set priorities, and bring production-grade AI systems to life
• Run A/B tests, iterate based on performance feedback, and ensure alignment with product experience goals and creative quality standards
• Stay ahead of the curve in the fast-moving GenAI space; guide strategy, share insights internally, and represent the team in technical forums as needed

Skills and attributes for success

• Proven experience with deep learning architectures for generative tasks (e.g., diffusion models, transformers, GANs)
• Strong understanding of LLMs, with hands‑on experience in fine‑tuning, prompt engineering, and evaluating foundation models for applied use‑cases for multimodal generation
• Preferred understanding of computer vision, natural language processing, and multimodal learning
• Strong exposure to ML evaluation techniques, including perceptual quality metrics and user‑in‑the‑loop testing
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, and SQL
• Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to non‑technical stakeholders.
