Job summary

Quest Diagnostics Inc. is seeking a Senior Monitoring Engineer to strengthen our global observability platform, focusing on Dynatrace administration, cloud monitoring, and automation.

You will design end-to-end monitoring for middleware, databases, and messaging systems, collaborate in a fast-paced agile environment, and contribute to CI/CD pipelines.

The ideal candidate has 4+ years in APM, 3+ years in SRE/Observability, and strong scripting and collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience with enterprise APM tools, including Dynatrace administration.
• 3+ years in SRE or Observability.
• 2+ years designing monitoring for cloud environments (Azure or GCP preferred).
• Scripting experience in Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Experience setting up end-to-end monitoring for middleware, databases, and Kafka.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in agile environment.

Job description

Required Work Experience:

• 4+ years of experience with enterprise APM tools, including deep administrative experience with Dynatrace (managing One Agent, ActiveGate, and custom workflows).
• 3+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) or Observability Engineering.
• 2+ years of experience designing and implementing monitoring for cloud-hosted environments (Azure or GCP preferred).
• Working experience building robust automation solutions using scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, or PowerShell).
• Proven experience setting up end-to-end monitoring for middleware infrastructure, databases, and messaging systems (e.g., Kafka).
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional agile environment.

Preferred Work Experience:

• Active certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., Dynatrace, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, etc.).
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
• Working experience building CI/CD pipelines and using version control systems (e.g., GitLab, Jenkins).
• Deep understanding of Linux/Windows systems administration and networking principles.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Exposure to microservices architecture.
• Exposure to log management tools like Splunk, Opsramp.
